    Belhaven Scottish Ale recipe

Can I ask why you add twice the English Crystal for all-grain than extract? And thanks for your help above.

    Belhaven Scottish Ale recipe

Interested in doing the Manty McMalters recipe. If I wanted to make it a 90 shilling version (about 7.4% ABV), would I just increase the amount of LME and DME?

    Bray's One Month Mead

3 gallons. Where did I deviate?

    Bray's One Month Mead

I used Walgreen store brand spring water. Also put in 1 tsp KHCo3 and to date about 3 tsp Fermaid O. Started 1/22, repitched 1/29. 9 lbs OB honey I got from Northern Brewer.

    Bray's One Month Mead

I'm trying the BOMM method but experiencing some problems. I made a three-gallon batch with OB honey in mid-January. I made a 500ml starter with the same water I used in the must, some GoFerm, and Wyeast 1388. The starter appeared to take off, so I pitched it. I had an OG of 1.105, but one...

Starter kit question: 1g or 5g?

In my first attempt at brewing, I jumped right to 5 gallons, and I can tell you, I didn't feel smart dumping 5 gallons down the drain. YMMV.

A question about fermentables in juice

Thanks, that tells me what I need to know.

A question about fermentables in juice

The RW Knudsen cranberry juice nutrition information says it has 22 grams of carbs per 8 oz., of which 10 grams is sugar. I've searched, but I can't find any thread that addresses whether only the 10 grams of sugar is fermentable. Anybody know if any of the other carbs are fermentable, or can...

Witbier Wit Power (Allagash White clone)

I just finished one that had been in the bottle for four months. The last one I tried had a spicy component, attributable I think to the coriander, that I did not like. That's gone. And with that gone, it tastes great. I didn't have an Allagash White to compare it to, but it was very good...

Witbier Wit Power (Allagash White clone)

I've tasted one after 4 weeks in the bottle. It's going to need some aging. Was my second brew ever, so that's on me. I'll check back in when it's had some more time.

    Irish Stout Ó Flannagáin Standard

Tasted this for the first time tonight. It poured a nice dark-brown head, which looked great, though it didn't last long. It's totally drinkable. It's not great, but it's quite drinkable, maybe a little astringent in the finish, but my palate is so undeveloped who knows. Anyway, I had 25...

    Help Naming my Brew Co.

I like the font. I'd like to see Pivovarna Golobic in that font. If you could color white, blue, red from top to bottom, you'd have the slovenian flag colors, might be nice. But even with just Trotsky, I like the font. Having both Trotsky and Pivovarna Golobic on the same label raises...

Witbier Wit Power (Allagash White clone)

If you're asking me, I BIAB, and I mashed for 75 minutes at about 155 +/- 3. No protein rest. Beezbrew, thanks for the recipe.

    Why not recommend half-batches?

I tried brewing about 20 years. I brewed 5 different 5-gallon batches, and every one tasted terrible, like plastic, no matter what changes I made. (That was way before Revvy's thread on not throwing your beer away, but the terrible taste did last for months.) So I gave it up. I'm trying...

Witbier Wit Power (Allagash White clone)

I mashed around 156F Not sure how useful that info is until the beer is done, but FWIW.

    Allagash white clone? anyone?

    All grain.

    Allagash white clone? anyone?

The beer called Wit Power in the Wheat and Rye subforum is supposed to be a clone. I can't say, because mine is only 10 days in the bottle. At bottling, there was a very strong flavor, I think of coriander, that at that stage did not appeal to me. I'll know more in 3 weeks.

    Homemade Hazelnut Extract Experimentations

I did a similar thing this past Saturday. Cracked some roasted hazelnuts with my fist and put them in vodka. I only had about an ounce of nuts though. The hazelnuts are not yet coming through strongly. I'll be interested to hear how your experiment goes.
