The WHIRLPOOL MASTER paddle! The end all of whirlpool issues!

Using mine for the first time on a brew today. Tested it out on the keggle filled with 14g of water, it gets it cranking pretty good. Question though, All my weldless fittings and dip tube false bottoms and such for my keggles are from you. Have thought about making a dip tube for the boil...

All NEW SPEIDEL Stainless add on parts from Nor Cal Brewing

I was just getting ready to ask about something like this since my initial trouble lining it up. I think on one of my fermenters, i might've cranked it down too tight with the gasket on the wrong side like a moron haha. I have since got the other two installed properly and they work amazingly!

All NEW SPEIDEL Stainless add on parts from Nor Cal Brewing

yeah sorry was checking back while brewing and whatnot. Forgot to come back and post. I was able to get it to seal properly with your instructions. Thank you. As an aside, dont put it on in reverse order "dip tube gasket lock ring". I might have cranked it down too hard and possibly...

All NEW SPEIDEL Stainless add on parts from Nor Cal Brewing

Any tips/tricks installing the dip tube. I can't seem to get it on there without leaks from where the gasket is. Gasket between the steel and orange cap correct? The Gasket seems to wanna mush out when i try to tighten. Am i tightening too much? I also might add that I'm about to start...

    Speidel Fermenter and Oxidation

I believe I will be doing this going forward at least to see how it works. Rack directly into CO2 purged keg, and proceed to cold crash in the keg. *fingers crossed* Thanks for the feedback

    Speidel Fermenter and Oxidation

Did a few searches on this topic couldn't find concrete discussion. I have some 60L Speidel fermenters. I generally do 10g batches, and am getting frustrated with my last few batches. I have tastes the hydrometer sample taken to make sure I've achieved full attenuation and they have tasted...

    Another Hopburst Q?

Brewed this Sunday 20lbs Maris Otter 4lbs FM bohemian Wheat 1lb Honey malt 1lb sugar 10g batch Mixed 12oz each of Amarillo 7.3, pacifica 4.8, wai-iti 2.5. did 4oz each at 25, 20,15,10,5,0 and a hop stand. I'm left w/ 8oz for dry hopping in a few days. Only started at 25 cuz i needed IBUs...

    Another Hopburst Q?

True, in the beginning I'd use 1-2lbs of various crystal malts per 5g in an IPA I've gradually over time come to use 8oz of honey malt per 5g and nothing else. And usually 8oz - 16oz of sugar per 5g to help dry it out. These have turned out fairly dry and tasty. I'm just glad I started this...

    Another Hopburst Q?

Yeah thats one of the things I've been reading with this technique. The planned brew is around 1.060-1.065 so ive messed around w/ hop additions to get it to about 72ish IBUs calculated so maybe it'll taste closer to the 1:1 ibu/og ratio that's preferable. Who knows?! If i get the flavor...

    Another Hopburst Q?

Definitely, will let ya know plan to brew on sunday. The AA of the combined hops is so low I definitely going to have to go further out than 10 to get a reasonable IBU count, and we're talking large handfuls of additions. I already have the hops and planned on using them all to begin with...

    Another Hopburst Q?

Ive got 12 oz of each and I'm not afraid (sorta) to use them all in the beer lol

    Another Hopburst Q?

Have a base IPA recipe locked in I like, but wanted to try my hand at this hopbursting thing. 10g @ about 1.060-1.065 Question is i wanted to go w/ out an 60 minute addition. The hops I wanna play w/ are: Amarillo 7.3% Pacifica 4.8% Wai-Iti 2.5% Lower AA than I wanted but I'll work...

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

Very true, i generally collect 14g on my RIS beers, but also add some DME and candi syrup to boost it a bit, either way i go this one is all malt. No sugar adds or anything. I am heavily leaning towards the 5g of 1.150ish and another 5g of whatever is left probably a good stout of some sort

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

After discussing with my brew partner gonna do just first runnings and partigyled whatever out of the rest

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

Whats the consensus on this as far as using just the first runnings or collecting more wort and boiling down. I can fit 40+ lbs w/ a very thick mash in my tun, was using this thread to kind of adjust my usual RIS recipe to get more of that CCB thickness. With the recipe i came up with i can...

    Firkin as psuedo solera?

Been toying around with the idea of doing a sort of pseudo solera type project, where I personally dont want wood or bugs in the beer. Looking for a 10g or so vessel and so far the 3 things I've found that might be reasonable for me: 10g Stainless Milk Can 10g Corny Keg 10.8g Firkins I...

Tell me to calm down...RIS gravity

I have not taken another gravity reading since yet...but figured if its at 1.050 after nearly 3 weeks it probably needs help. In any case I got outta work extra early and ended up snagging the extra yeast while I was out...so why the heck not. Just might have to rename this stout the Kitchen...

Tell me to calm down...RIS gravity

Yeah thats what I was worried about...even though it tasted good 1050 was still way too high IMO I got WLP099 churning away in the stir plate/flask will dump it into the fermenter tonight or tomorrow morning

Tell me to calm down...RIS gravity

LOL yessss Hans and Franz We shall found out what happens...the only part I'm not sure of is normally for a starter i'd decant the beer off the top...but since this will be active fermentation being poured in do i pour the whole 2L or...? Thanks once again
