Pumpkin Loyalist's Ale (2 pounds / gallon, pics)

OP here, so this beer actually came out pretty good for the level of spice added to it. Could probably go with 1/2 a teaspoon if that's what you're looking to get out of it. And maybe an extra cup of brown sugar for more alcohol content and molasses flavor. Or an extra pound of the DME. Best to...

Pumpkin Loyalist's Ale (2 pounds / gallon, pics)

I went back and checked again (shouldn't have taken a reading in the bucket anyway). The FG is 1.023 so it'd be somewhere around 3.5 or maybe 3.8 which is better. I'll keep an eye out on it - I was bottling on a different project last week and my friend showed me a glass shard stuck in his ceiling.

Pumpkin Loyalist's Ale (2 pounds / gallon, pics)

So in line with the season I took to making a pumpkin ale - not a pumpkin spiced ale but a meaty pumpkin ale. It was a bit of an experiment as my sixth brew... Just bottled today in time for Halloween but I have an issue with low ABV that I figure someone might know how to solve. It was...

    Modular-Volume Mash Tun?

So I'm working on my first all-grain setup. The 62qt SS kettle is in the mail and now I'm working on the mash tun. With batch sparging it looks like this is all I'll need for now. I have a 75 qt rectangular cooler which I've gotten for really cheap. The issue is that I'm sure this will be too...

Brewing in and bottling from spigot buckets?

I feel like everyone here has secretly tried to budget an industrial clean room. :D

Brewing in and bottling from spigot buckets?

I didn't mean to rush it. The kit instructions said two weeks in primary, or one week in primary and two in secondary. I see now that secondary is not as necessary as first perceived.

Brewing in and bottling from spigot buckets?

For my second go I want to minimize sediment as much as I can since it'll be lighter. To get the well-compacted trub I should give it an extra week? The current brew started at OG 1.040 and was in primary for 7 days and has been in secondary for 2 days. The bubbling rate was never much...

Brewing in and bottling from spigot buckets?

I've done some reading on the bucket vs. carboy debate. One thing I saw was that spigot buckets have the advantage of simplifying bottling by eliminating the need to siphon. I'm probably going to do my second brew (a pumpkin spice ale from the local shop) in a bucket since the carboy's busy with...

Messed up my first racking job - now which is the lesser of two evils...?

Okay, I'll pick up an autosiphon for the next round. I'll be sure to do my homework for priming and bottling. Maybe a stout next time around.

Messed up my first racking job - now which is the lesser of two evils...?

So going off the minimalistic instructions I got with the beer kit I've been using I racked the Scottish ale I've been working on to the carboy. It's using Windsor British-ale style yeast. Afterward I was curious about a few points and found I'd done the following things wrong: -Put the hose to...
