    Draft system maintenance questions!

Thanks for the replies guys. My lines aren't filled with StarSan, its just the residual stuff left in the lines after it started blowing foam out. Do you think it'll be ok for a week? In a week, I can flush a couple cups of water through the system and put the keg on for the BCS game.

    Draft system maintenance questions!

To skip right to my questions, just scroll down for the bold. About two years ago, I put together a draft system with a single tap for my house. Using quick disconnects, I put it together so I can use either commercial sankey kegs or ball style home brew kegs. So far, I've only used two...

Oh @#$%! Did my beer die???

Well, I appreciate the replies, guys. We are going to pretty much leave it be. I'll do more to stabilize the temp though. Probably move it to the closet in the basement bathroom. The ceramic tile should help pull some heat out of it. I tasted a sample of it as we transferred it to the...

Oh @#$%! Did my beer die???

Thanks guys. Recommended temp is 68 to 70 if I recall correctly. I think we are st 72? Sucks that I work 12 hour shifts. It's gonna be awhile before I get home and check on the temp. We have it fermenting in an unused bathroom in the bathtub, with a cardboard box cover to keep light off of...

    my home draft system

So here are some pictures of the working end of the draft system: $40 fridge from Craigslist Quick disconnect fitting co2 bottle, fresh lines, and quick disconnects Low profile keg coupler (pricey, but it fits with room to spare) And here are some pictures of the rest of...

    my home draft system

Haha, yeah, its M/L. I wanted a cheap, small keg of something my wife would drink too, so a 1/4 keg of M/L it was!. I'll post up pictures of the rest of the draft system, and maybe a couple of our bar, tomorrow.

    my home draft system

The messed up thing is, the only thing I kept from the original system as the tower, the co2 regulator, and the two co2 bottles. I replaced the shank, faucet, and the coupler as well as bought new beer lines. The small refrigerator is actually in the adjacent room. I just ran the beer line...

    my home draft system

One of my uncles was told by his doctor to quit drinking, diet, or die. He pushed his commercial grade kegerator outside and threw a tarp over it, wisely choosing life! My dad knew my wife and I were getting into home brewing, and suggest I call him and see if he wanted to sell it. My uncle...

    kegging and dispensing questions

I just got an old Perlick kegerator from my uncle thats in a bit of disrepair. Iplan on removing the tower, cleaning it up, and mounting it on my bar. The top and door need replaces, but that looks easy enough as they are made out of partical board. The rest of the kegerator look in decent...

Its amazing the difference times makes!

It was definetly worth sacrificing a few bottles to taste how the beer was maturing. The last beer we did was great after only carbing for 1 week. The next time we open one of the beers from this batch will be at the end of this month, at our wedding. By then it should taste really damn good...

Its amazing the difference times makes!

Our beer had been carbing and after three weeks, my fiancee and I opened a bottle to try. I thought it was just ok, and not as carbed as it could be. My fiancee didn't like it and she was worried. Last night, we opened two bottles and it was amazing how much better it tasted with an extra...

Carbing Temp? Carbing in a growler?

Looked around and haven't found a specific answer... The recipe is a creme ale... What's a good temp range to carb our bottles in? Is it ok if there is a flucuation in temps as long as its not too extreme? Also, I know its generally considered risky to carbing in a growler, but who...

Uh oh! How bad is this? (temp. issues!)

That sounds good. Where do I learn about how to do that?

Uh oh! How bad is this? (temp. issues!)

If we bottle a week from today (which allows for 4 weeks total in the fermenter) on Satruday March 17th, that will allow us to still have 6 weeks for carbing. Wedding isn't until the very end of April (28th). Thanks for the good advice here guys, by the way. It has helped me feel better...

Uh oh! How bad is this? (temp. issues!)

If its done in the fermenter, is it ok to let it sit for another week until I can bottle it? If so, can it be stored in the conditions it is currently in right now, in a cool dark room?

    Good First Beer?

Holy crap, try this for your first brew! http://www.brewmasterswarehouse.com/recipe/42345095/shoultzmeyer-brewery-dont-call-me-hefe This was out first brew, and it was done in about 3 weeks. It was very very simple and my God, it tasted soooooooo damn good. My boss actually offered to pay...

Uh oh! How bad is this? (temp. issues!)

Whoa, I feel much better about the beer today. There was added pressure on this, our second ever batch of beer, after how much our friends loved our first (and very successful!) attempt! So today I took a gravity reading, and it was around 1.012 to 1.014. The final gravity on this recipe is...

Uh oh! How bad is this? (temp. issues!)

I'll take a gravity reading tomorrow. There is no krausen right now. The beer just looks kinda flat and dead. I'll check back in tomorrow.

Uh oh! How bad is this? (temp. issues!)

Ugh. I'm still worring about this batch of beer. It turns out the bathroom in the basement is staying consistantly mild, so I moved the carboy down there, and I got the tempurature back in a comfortable range. There seems to be little to no airlock activity, and the beer doesn't look like its...
