    Slow dispensing

After cleaning out the post and dip tube, all is well on dispensing. There was a lot of crud in it. I didn't do a secondary on that batch so there was more stuff in it. Maybe I'll trim back the dip tube a bit to avoid sucking all that up on the first few glasses. Thanks for the help!

    Slow dispensing

Yeah i have a two port c02 distribution block with the two kegs hooked up. One trickles, one is fine. Maybe I'll pull out the diptube and make sure all is well. Also I may shut off the good keg for a bit and crank up the co2 a bit for a few days and see if that helps with the carbonation. So...

    Slow dispensing

I have two kegs hooked up to one co2 tank and one keg dispenses significantly slower than the other. Also after a week of being hooked up at around 10psi the beer in the keg in question is lacking carbonation. Any idea what the issue may be? You think I may need to replace the posts? I...

Two Kegs on one C02 tank

Quick question. I'm working on upgrading my one keg system to handle two kegs on one 5lb CO2 tank. I'm wondering if I should get a two way CO2 distribution block or just get a simple "tee" connector to split the lines. It seems like the tee would work fine, but I'm not sure if I'm overlooking...

    Is my Porter Done?

I'm brewing a morebeer.com porter kit and it's been in the fermenter for 10 days. My OG was 1.053 and now it's at 1.020-1.019 and it's been the same for the past 3 days. It's still bubbling but very slow. Should I rack it to a secondary and let it sit more or just bottle it up and call it...

    Quick Yeast Starter Question

I made my yeast starter about 24 hours ago and I haven't seen a frothy layer of foam on top like when you make bread starters, but the airlock is bubbling and there is the cake on the bottom. Did I just miss the all the action? I'm assuming if the airlock is bubbling that it must be ok. I...

Will instructions for a 3 gallon boil work for a one gallon?

If I have a set of instructions that tell you do a 3 gallon boil, can you follow them for a one gallon boil? I don't have a kettle large enough to do a full 3 gallon boil, maybe I could do a 1.5 - 2. I guess it'd be more concentrated, but I'd think it'd still work fine. Any thoughts? Kevin

White labs yeast after 7 days in a ups truck, still good?

So I ordered a pumpkin ale kit from morebeer.com and I got the whitelabs yeast with it. The problem is that I didn't see on their site that they suggest you ordering expedited shipping with ice packs. Do you think the yeast is still usable after sitting in the truck for 7 days? I ordered two...

    Primary / Secondary Ferm. Options

Yeah i was planning on using the bucket for the pri, but watching it swirl around in the glass was tempting.

    Primary / Secondary Ferm. Options

Here are my options for fermentation, which would you suggest. I have a 6.5 gal bucket and a 6.5 gal carboy. I meant to buy a 5 gal carboy, but i got a 6.5 gal instead. I'm planning on getting a 5 soon, but not for a bit. Should I: Bucket - Pri Carboy - Sec. or Carboy - Pri...

Secondary Fermenting in 6.5 gal Carboy

I'm about to brew my third batch and just picked up a carboy. My plans were to use it for secondary fermentation, but I bought a 6.5 gal one instead of a 5 gal. I wasn't aware of the difference earlier :) Would it be ok to use the 6.5 for sec. fermentation or should I wait to get a 5 gal...
