I have a leak in my MLT (48qt rubbermaid). What is a safe sealant for the inside around the nipple? I've heard silicone is ok, but just any silicone caulk from home depot?

I brewed a wee heavy last night, 24 hrs later its vigorously fermenting. problem: there is a tremendous amount of pressure built up in my ale pail with blow off tube. It seem like the pressure will eventually blow the lid off, i keep venting it to relieve pressure, but i gotta go to bed soon...

what do i need, and how do i save and reuse yeast from the primary fermenter?

I brewed a batch of wit last night the O.G. was 1.075!!. right now its fermenting vigorusly with wyeast belgianwit. what are some problems i may face with this heavy wit.

i racked a batch of belgian ale to secondary about 1 1/2 weeks ago. its a 5 gallon batch, i used a 6.5 gal carboy. i realize that there would be some room left, but it is barely over 1/2 full. i cant imagine losing more than 1/2 gallon in the racking. so is the carboy over 6.5 gal? or did i lose...

what a safe way to get a sample from a 6.5 gal carboy thats about 3/4 full? My turkey baster won't reach.

im in the process of brewing and , i just realized my sole airlock is in use on my carboy. can i temporarily use a blow off tube for an airlock untill i get to my LHBS tomorrow?

I brewed my second batch tonight, everything went smooth, except with the smackpack. it was wyeast belgian ardenes, i smacked the heck out of it, i think it swelled a little, but when i was going to pitch it into the wort i saw the inner pack was only somewhat emptied, so i pitched the contents...

what happens if a beer is not done fermenting and it is primed and bottled? :confused:

Hi , this site seems to be just what i have been looking for. My first batch is bottled, looks good so far, i cant wait to drink it and im already planning a new brew. How long should i brew with extracts before moving on to mash?
