Heated Yeast By Mistake. Am I Doomed??

I made a stout last night. It called for the yeast to be hydrated with 4oz of water before adding to the wart. I wasn’t thinking (because I had been drinking) and put 4oz of water into a pan and set it on the stove, got the yeast opened the package sprinkled it in the 4oz of water and stirred...

    Help...steeping grains

I'm brewing a winter spiced ale, said to steep the grains at 152 to 158 F for 30 minutes. I stuck the thermometer in the gains thinking that would give me a good reading of the gains temp. I smelled something kind of funky and put the thermometer in the water and it was almost 200F. I took...

How come nothing goes as planned.

Made my beer last night took the og reading which is supposed to be 1.044 - 1.048 and it was 1.032. What gives? I made sure everything was clean, sanitized and followed the recipe instructions. I tell ya, if it not one thing it's another. Makes me want a beer.

    What about this?

Making a light golden ale and my stove just doesn’t seem to boil without the lid almost completely on. I accidentally left the lid completely on and the wart almost bubbled over. After taking the lid off the bubbles subsided but there was a bunch of hop like stuff on the side of the pot above...

    Carb PSI

I currently have a 5lb co2 tank split between a keg of Sam Adams and my homebrew Cornelius keg. Last night I racked my homebrew IPA at room temp into the Cornelius keg and the plan was to shut the valve off going to my keg of Sammy, which i did, add 30 psi of co2 to my homebrew, shut the valve...

Anyone Using Priming Sugar and Force Carb

I searched the posts here and have found many opinions on this but just wanted to try one more time. I've bought three batches from my LBS and kegged all of them. My LBS said to add the priming sugar to the boil and then after the fermentation period rack to the keg and set CO2 to 10 psi...

To Stir or Not To Stir

I made a batch of IPA last night. The recipe said to add various amounts of Cascade hops and boil for various times. My question is I never stirred the wort after adding the hops each time because the recipe didn’t state too, was it necessary? It seemed like there was a lot more sludge when i...

Looking For Recipe Similar to Cold Hop

I tried the Cold Hop from the Boulder Beer Company over the weekend and like it a bunch and thought it would be great to try and make something similar. I have no clue how to start. Cold Hop British-Style Ale is a unique ale with a rich golden hue. Its pleasantly fruity, floral hop aroma and...
