I'm making an IPA with an extract recipe and simcoe hops. Beginner question: Do I add the hops pellets directly to the wort or in a muslim bag? I've done both...in the bag certainly leaves less solids in the wort...I'm not sure if one method is preferred...

Wanted to say HI. New to brewing and found this site. Its very helpful! Got my third batch in the fermenter right now...a kind of a rye ale....mostly brewing steeped grains and extracts so far. Anyway....living here on the edge of Raleigh and Cary...feel free to give me a shout if you need...
