i am brewing a coconut porter. When I added the coconut to the carboy I thought it would hydrate on it own but it’s just sitting on top after 24 hrs. I am wondering if I should lightly stir it or shake the carboy? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
can i start a 2 gallon mead in a 5 gallon carboy and then split it into 2 one gallon jugs after primary fermentation? Or will there be to much head space?

I dry hopped my first IPA 6 days ago and was planning on bottling tomorrow. Problem is my hops are still floating on top. Any way to get them to settle without cold crashing?
so I just moved my northern brewers chinook ipa into secondary. I didn’t take a OG but I think my gravity now is 1.008 is this correct and is that to low of a reading?
