    I'm making my first batch (BOMM) soon and will be doing a starter. My question is how do I measure the OG of the starter? do I just place a sterile hydrometer in the flask?

    JAOM variant

    So I'm just getting started in mead and have a question about JAOM. Could frozen orange juice and a more suitable yeast be used successfully? I know it wouldn't be true JAOM, but it would be easier to clean the carboy and some lavin yeast might give better flavor. any input?
