    problem with some honey beer - (metheglin)

    hey i found an old recipe for honey beer (using honey as the only sugar source i.e no malt) however the fermentation is very very slow, after about a week it has only gained in 1% alc volume out of a total 5.5% (average) so whats up anyone? the recipie used 500g (1.1lb) of honey 30g of hops...

    i have heard it is almost impossable to match a homebrew beer with a commercial one is this true? because i think its quite easy providing you use the right teqneques (excuse my spelling)

    20L crystal malt?

    does anyone know in the u.k where you can get 20L crystal malt as i had to brew my lagar with a dark strain which is annoying

    sodium metabisulphite

    i sterilized my equipment with sodium metabisulphite but i was wondering if this will affect the beer because aparently you don't need to rinse out the equipment i fear if traces are in the beer it will kill the yeast but i have been told its harmless in small quantitys.

    boiler

    i brought a richie boiler not so long ago and it takes alot of hassle and mess out of grain and extract brewing i will reccomend it to anyone (if you dont mind parting with £50)!

    i found the book clone brews very helpful the layout is good and the beer it produces if brilliant i will reccomend it to anyone except beginners
