Hello all, Just feeling everybody out that has used Safbrew S-33. I just brewed a 5 gallon extract that I put together and had asked my LHBS about different yeasts to try. I was told the S-33 would be ok to use and should be a good yeast for the simple brew I planned on making. Everything...

maltodextrin addition to Nut Brown Ale

All, plans for my next brew is to do a nut brown ale. my question is if I add a small amount of maltodextrin would this allow the brew to retain a more creamy head similar to a stout? The darker beers just seem more enjoyable with that creamy foam.

    Milk stout recipe

Can anybody suggest a good milk stout extract or partial mini mash recipe. Im not looking for a big bold stout just a mild easy drinking one. My taste in darker beers is slowly getting better but im still looking for mild on this one. Even better would be about a 3 gallon recipe in the event it...

    Temp question for liquid yeast

Am I just being paranoid?? Brewed a partial mash spotted clone last night and pitched the yeast when the wort was 64 degrees. This is the first time I have used liquid yeast (WYEAST KOLSCH 2565) and I did not make a starter as the smack pack swelled nicely and my OG was only 1.044. I put the...

    Pin lock kegs

I want to start kegging some of my brews so I started to look for some used kegs. Happened to talk to a guy that used to run a place that closed many years ago. SCORE he told me he has some old pop kegs in storage I could have. I ended up with 7 pin lock kegs and 1 ball lock keg. One keg was...

    RiteBrew

Thumbs up to RiteBrew. I ordered 2 extract kits, a blue moon clone and a spotted cow clone. Fast delivery and better prices than I have found on similar kits. Just wondered if anybody else has ordered from them or found someplace with even better prices for extract kits.

I would like to start kegging at least one of my brews at a time to make it more convenient for serving when a few friends come over. My big question is how long will the beer stay good once its kegged and carbed? 15 days, 30 days 45 days??? Also who has the best prices on mini systems or used...

This may sound like a stupid question but here goes. Can I use a plastic bucket I can purchase at my local WalMart to ferment in?? Both of my glass carboys are full at the moment and I want to do another brew. Are there some differences between the one ordered from a home brew supply store? I...

    Fermenting Temps

I have a Hefe going right now with Danstar Munich dry yeast and a light ale with coopers dry yeast. Thought the basement floor was a bit cooler but I have had steady temps of about 73 degrees in the carboys. My question is are the temps really high enough to cause any problems. A friend who has...

Brewed first batch..a NB HEFE about 4 weeks ago. Been conditioning in the bottle for 2 weeks and I had to finally taste. Wow have to admit it tastes great. Nice foamy head and lots of carbonation. I fermented at a lower temp so its light on the banana and a little more pronounced on the spicy...

My question is how many of you do it? I have just finished my second batch and never even gave this a thought until now. Sure hope i...
