Fermenting too long??

Taking an FG reading to determine if the beer is ready to bottle
Hello fellow home brewers! I have had my beer in the plastic fermenter for 25 days. I would like to take a FG reading a day or two apart to be sure it stays the same to make sure we are ready to bottle. How do I bring the beer down to 59 degrees so the hydrometer will work? Plastic to Glass?
The kit is called brewcraft USA homebrewers deluxe starter kit. I have been fermenting for 10 days in the 5 gal plastic bucket. Air tight during fermentation
I purchased a starter kit and went to work on Friday. It is now Tuesday. After cooling it off, I put it in a five gallon plastic barrel that came with the starter kit.
