    *Too* inexpensive regulator?

I have that regulator and it works well. In fact, I bought most of my kegging equippment from that site.

You know what pisses me off? SAME-DIFFERENCE!

I hated that expression until I started coming up with variations: It's two of one and the only even prime of the other. It's pi of one and the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter of the other. It's 13 of one and D (base 16) of the other. Now I only find it mildly...

Bayou Classic 62 Qt. Stainless Steel Stockpot for $100

I was looking around for a stock pot for 10 gallon batches and found this: http://www.divine-mercantile.com/Bayou-Classic-62-Qt-Stainless-Steel-Stockpot_p_9-776.html On another site is said it was 20 gauge stainless steel, which I think is slightly thinner than a keggle (16-18, I believe)...

    Hop Shoots as Food

http://www.allaboutbeer.com/food/hops.html Has anyone tried them? I have second year Cascade and Cenntenial plants that are already sending up a lot of shoots. I like the idea of using them in salads. I also saw that Hops Direct used to sell pickled hop shoots, but they don't have them...

    Crimes Against Beer-manity

That happened to me last night. I was a little annoyed but at least they let me go back to the shelf and change it out for a different bottle.

    connecting 3 CO2 regulators

I'm thinking of building my own 3 regulator set-up so that I can run kegs at different pressures. This is what I think I need. 3 of these regulators: http://www.sciplus.com/search.cfm/scategory/OHM/term/regulator with these gauges: http://www.brewersdiscount.com/item5077.ctlg and these...

Free online tax prep - too good to be true?

I've used the HR block free site the past two years and it has worked well. The only drawback is that there is an ad asking your to upgrade every 5-10 minutes. I think that depends on the state. Indiana has a free e-file through the state's department of revenue. It takes about 5 minutes...

Second Year Hops and Crazy Weather

Thanks. I've been worried all winter that the changing temperatures were slowly killing my hop plants.

Second Year Hops and Crazy Weather

This is the time of the year where the weather is out of control in Southern Indiana. It was 70+ last weekend and the low at the end of this week is supposed to be around 15. With certain plants (I think roses are one of them), I've heard that once it warms up to the point that the plant is no...

Controllong how much people drink from a kegerator

Thanks for all the replies. Since there will only be about 20 people at this party and most of them are fairly close friends, I think I'll go with small glasses and then unhook a keg if a feel like I'm losing too much of a certain beer. I think that is one of the things I want them to...

Controllong how much people drink from a kegerator

Since I've built my kegerator, I've been trying to figure out the best way to control how much people drink at parties. With bottles I could control this, but with the kegs I don't know what to do. I don't want to be a dick about it, but at the same time I don't want people to waste me beer...

    Back to Back brewing

I frequently brew two batches at the same time and it adds about 90 minutes to my total time. I have two mash tuns and use the stove for sparge water, which cuts down on the time. The only drawback is that it requires a lot more focus, since you have to add hops to the first batch while you...

I'm short 1oz of Chinook. Where should I substitute?

Thanks for the advice. I decided to go use some Magnum at 60. I've made this before and want to keep as much of the Chinook as possible. Like Yooper said, after about 6 months or so it loses a lot of the harshness.

I'm short 1oz of Chinook. Where should I substitute?

I'm making the following recipe this weekend: 12 lbs - 2 Row Malt 1.25 lbs. - Crystal 120 1.25 oz - Chinook (60 min.) 1 oz - Chinook (30 min.) 1 oz - Chinook at FlameOut I only have 2 oz of Chinook, so I was trying to decide how I should change the recipe. The hops I have available...

    Winterizing Hop Plants?

It might be a little late but is there anything I need to do (or should have done) to winterize my hop plants? I couldn't find any mention of it in any of the hop growing articles I have seen.

Any tricks for removing stuck keg posts?

Thanks for all the tips. I finally broke down and bought a 90 degree socket wrench, which worked a lot better than my old one which was basically a screw driver with an adapter (I know, the right tools make all the difference. I'm just so damn cheap). I set the keg on its side so I was able...

Any tricks for removing stuck keg posts?

I recently purchaced some kegs and two of them have stuck posts. One has a stuck gas post and the other has a stuck liquid. I have tried soaking the posts in a warm oxyclean bath and I have tried using a little spray of liquid wrench. Neither method loosened them up. (The liquid wrench did...
