Adding yeast when bottling, if so, when, how much, what container?

Ok thanks, I did a pretty good job of stirring it. Honestly I found it so hard to tell how much to add in because it was still and I found it hard to get an idea of how it would actually taste. So I ended up putting in about a table spoon per gallon of brown sugar erythritol sweetener. Photo...

Adding yeast when bottling, if so, when, how much, what container?

Thanks for all this help and advice! They are in standard 12oz beer bottles, a few in swing tops. I was going for medium carbonation and the sources I looked at suggested 20g/1 oz. From the priming sugar calculator, being conservative about temp, it looks like I would need to add 32g to 0.9g to...

Adding yeast when bottling, if so, when, how much, what container?

Ok good! I'll check one in a week anyway to make sure. Ugh I was a total idiot and forgot to check, I got too wrapped up in the racking and bottling. I do have 1 gal left of one of the 3 yeast types I tried so I can check that, which isn't great but will tell me for one. That was the least dry...

Adding yeast when bottling, if so, when, how much, what container?

Thanks for the info! I have a follow-up question. I added some yeast, really not very much, and 20g dextrose per 'gallon' (full gallon minus sediment and a touch of cider left when racking). All bottled and capped. I am now just reading that I will probably have to cold crash after a few weeks...

Adding yeast when bottling, if so, when, how much, what container?

Thanks both! I added a little KV-1116, probably not enough because I was worried about overdoing it but fingers crossed! Wow that took ages being the first time I had bottled before!

Adding yeast when bottling, if so, when, how much, what container?

Hi everyone, I started 6 gals of cider 10 months ago. I racked to secondary approx 3 weeks to a month after into 1 gal jugs. I now want to bottle and I would like light to medium carbonation. I plan to back sweeten with monkfruit sweetener. I plan on 12 oz capped beer bottles. It's pretty warm...

DIY airlock for small bottles and small auto siphon ideas?

No worries. I didn't mean to react badly. I was in the middle of racking and I was messing it up and getting all stressed out.

DIY airlock for small bottles and small auto siphon ideas?

Yeah I get it. But they made the decision to try to make someone feel small and stupid instead of just helping or correcting nicely. I'll never understand that mentality, seems a shitty way to want to be. Kinda pointless and stupid.

DIY airlock for small bottles and small auto siphon ideas?

Ok thanks. Bleh I already did 4 that way. Oh well, fingers crossed dipping it make it less bad! I'll do the sanitizer for the rest. Thanks.

DIY airlock for small bottles and small auto siphon ideas?

Thank you. Is that generally better than sucking on the end, putting my thumb over and putting the end back in sanitizer? I only ask because I would worry about getting sanitizer in my cider. I know it's non toxic so maybe that doesn't matter. I thought I had kept it but I guess not! But they...

DIY airlock for small bottles and small auto siphon ideas?

Does it really matter in the context of my question. First time fermenting then. Way to make a newbie feel welcome!

DIY airlock for small bottles and small auto siphon ideas?

Right... I posted in here because it seemed the most generic for general advice about equipment and methods common to most brewing and more people brew beer than cider. Does the beverage really matter?

DIY airlock for small bottles and small auto siphon ideas?

Hi everyone I hope this is the right place to ask. I am making 6 gals of hard cider using 3 types of yeast, so I have 2 gals of each type. I'm using 1 gal bottles, so two bottles for each type. This is my first time brewing. I'm due to rack into secondary and did the first last two bottles...

    Sake brewing: using acid blend?

Hi everyone, I am about to attempt brewing sake for the first time. I will be using koji kin to make koji, using sushi rice for the whole process, and Lalvin L50 K1-V1116 yeast. I wanted to try the Lalvin first to just try out the process before investing in a more expensive sake yeast. Anyway...

    Apple wine without juicing?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a recipe for apple wine that does not involve pressing/ juicing apples. I've seen some mention of putting frozen apples in a straining bag and adding sugar water. But then other sources say do not add water but add apple juice. I have a lot of apples and have already...

Last min question: planning for no headspace when testing multiple yeasts

Hi everyone, I pressed about 8.5gal juice on Sunday, 3 I am using for apple wine, the rest for cider. I've never made it before so instead of trying it out on a small batch I thought I'd go all in and try a few different yeasts 🙃 I currently have 6 gallon bottles filled to the widest part (see...

Advice for pressing: cleaning and mashing, does it matter if apples brown or aren't sterilized?

Wow! I was expecting something like the odd brown apple

Advice for pressing: cleaning and mashing, does it matter if apples brown or aren't sterilized?

Hi everyone, I am attempting hard cider for the first time (4-5 gallons) with the guidance of a friend who has made it several times before. They have only used a juicer before, so since we are both going to be making cider we have decided to rent a press this coming weekend to make the process...
