    Multiple Concurrent Small Batch Brewing

If I got the bigger pots yeah prob buy some 1 gal kegs. For the smaller ones I would maybe get 2 liter batches so I might just use x2 1 liter plastic soda style bottles. I typically ferment in kegs with floating dip tubes so the fermenter would be the kegs or soda bottles - I’d just be careful...

    Multiple Concurrent Small Batch Brewing

Good to know I’m not the only one having a tough time with this. I agree the 2 foundry’s is prob the best way to do it with some level of automated temp control (mash/boil). I’ve been wanting to do at least 4 separate recipes at once with different mashes but the only thing I can come up with is...

    Multiple Concurrent Small Batch Brewing

I know this threads old but, Bobby_M did you ever come up with a method/system to do this?

Do floating dip tubes solve problem of kicked up yeast/trub from moving around fermenter/serving corny keg?

Thanks for the info. I did end up getting some, and they work wonderfully. I think my only gripe is is that the outer filter likes to fall off pretty easily and is a little tricky to put together (falls apart as I’m putting it together. Other than that they work marvelously.

Duotight not coming apart. Any advice.

I did try doing these last couple of things (push in tubing at same time as collar before pulling tubing out and also twisting) but no luck. I think this is just something that may happen occasionally due to it being a metal piece that I’m attaching (stem of the gage). Thankfully they’re not too...

Duotight not coming apart. Any advice.

As somebody said before, an adjustable (crescent) wrench works really well too (as long as it fits into the space between the two fittings).

Duotight not coming apart. Any advice.

Hi! Yes I did pull it out again in the hopes of resetting it first as well, but no luck. Maybe the fact that its metal on metal somehow makes it dig in more. Oh yeah, I don’t trust the tubing cutter/ removal tool for that very reason. I have been using the komos draft multi tool actually (which...

Duotight not coming apart. Any advice.

I think I'm just going to accept the fact that it is a permanent connection now. If i cut it off I'd be spending about 7 bucks (IIRC) on a new ball lock disconnect. I decided that for that price I can just buy a second gage, which I did 🤷‍♂️

Duotight not coming apart. Any advice.

I've used a crescent wrench sometimes too. The opening isn't big enough for it in this case though, and the needle nose pliers aren't working, unfortunately.

Duotight not coming apart. Any advice.

Hi y'all. Funny enough I heard some rumors that duotight fittings could leak but I have had the exact opposite experience, where not only do they NOT leak, but they can be kind of hard to take apart (i have hand/wrist injuries and its not making things any better). I have one pressure gage (with...

Do floating dip tubes solve problem of kicked up yeast/trub from moving around fermenter/serving corny keg?

I'm gonna try the Flotit 2.0 and see how things work out. If that doesn't work I think I'll start doing transfers to separate serving kegs (and if i'm spunding do the transfer prior to end of fermentation). Thanks for the detailed info everybody!

Do floating dip tubes solve problem of kicked up yeast/trub from moving around fermenter/serving corny keg?

Additional question: If I’m spunding, should I spund in the original fermenting keg and then transfer to serving keg, or transfer over after kreusen subsides to spund in the serving keg? I’m guessing the first option would cause crazy foaming as it’s transferred due to pressure differential

Do floating dip tubes solve problem of kicked up yeast/trub from moving around fermenter/serving corny keg?

I totally agree that transferring to a serving keg would be best. I have been on this quest since I had my daughter was born to eliminate as much time (and money) from my process as I can, so I was hell bent on not cleaning an extra keg and the time involved. I maybe don't need to die on this...

Do floating dip tubes solve problem of kicked up yeast/trub from moving around fermenter/serving corny keg?

Ok sounds like it would be an improvement at the very least. I hope along with other techniques such as cold crashing before transferring to kegerator that I'll get clear pours. If not I'll have to do one of two things I avoid like the plague: buy even more stuff (corny lids with ball lock...

Do floating dip tubes solve problem of kicked up yeast/trub from moving around fermenter/serving corny keg?

Just trying to see if it would be an improvement over what I'm doing now I guess, which is just dumping the trub/yeast using a normal dip tube and picnic tap, then transferring to kegerator and pouring a seemingly endless array of cloudy beers (its seems like i need to be 1/4 way into the keg to...

Do floating dip tubes solve problem of kicked up yeast/trub from moving around fermenter/serving corny keg?

Hi y'all. I've read quite a few threads about fermenting & serving from the same corny keg and hear people love the floating dip tubes. So far I've just been using a picnic tap to dump the trub/yeast, then just dealing with the fact that a ton of pints will just be yeasty/cloudy after I move it...

Can I ferment and spund ales in a keg and retain esters?

Oh yeah the only thing i would consider "pressure fermenting" (pressure from the very beginning) is lagers. My goal was to carbonate using fermentation co2, not surpress esters. When you cap them its happening at least 3 days after the start of fermentation? I assume you need to finish the...

Can I ferment and spund ales in a keg and retain esters?

Hi @Jag75 ! I read the article you linked. I don't doubt the kegland people know what they're talking about, I just wanted to hear from individuals - to get their experiences with different strains of yeast and how much ester suppression happened for each. I don't mind experimenting myself but I...

Can I ferment and spund ales in a keg and retain esters?

Alright thanks for the info y’all. I might try spunding another hefe after activity has died down some and see if it wasn’t just my ferm temp debacle after all. I think I’ll try another English ale too. If it’s still muted flavors on the hefe I’ll prob just give up on spunding them all together...

Can I ferment and spund ales in a keg and retain esters?

Thanks @odie ! Were you able to fully carbonate the hefe using spunding? I think I started spunding after I stopped getting kreusen in the blow off tube - I think it was about one bubble every 3 seconds - and it only got to about 20 psi at 65 F. About how many bubbles or what SG were you at when...
