    Top 5 must have hops

I'm interested in the recipe, so you might want to check it, @Willy - Maris Otter is listed twice.

    1st mini keg question

Agreed that it's the same as a big keg for pouring. Flow control nukatap could work, the "picnic tap 2.0" could work, or a coiled line of tubing, lost of people to the small diameter EVABarrier. The gist is that it's coming out way too fast from a pressurized keg to a non pressurized...

    Question about imperial stouts.....

I've also always been curious what aging does. For an IPA or something that would be a bad idea. So I wonder if dark beers actually get better because of some dark beer magic, or maybe it's just that once they've oxidized a little and the hop flavor's gone away, we get what we were hoping for...

    Question about imperial stouts.....

I've been finding, I think (I say think because I have made maybe 10 Imperial Stouts now, 1 fermenting as we speak, but it's not really that many) that cooler yeast temps have helped, and also going lighter on any late hops does as well. I love that late hop punch in a Pale Ale or IPA of course...

Calcium chloride (anhydrous) vs. calcium chloride (dihydrate)

Hydro = water, anhydrous = no water, dihydrate = has some water. I think the weight changes, and so how much you use changes, but otherwise it's probably the same CaCl. That said - wait for the experts to weigh in.

Warm fermented American light lager (Kirin Ichiban Clone)

The Kirin site has a little video where they say it's 100% malt. So - yeah, it's got no rice. Odd that SO MANY sites that you'd think know something say it has rice in it.

NorthernBrewer - hops came with no alpha acid percentages printed, wth?

Probably everything. When you're bought up by a company that wants to squeeze every nickel out of you, things like quality tend to become less important.

NorthernBrewer - hops came with no alpha acid percentages printed, wth?

Pay attention to the printing, catch it before too many bags have been made. Watch the first few get made, before letting the rest go, to be sure it's working. Fix the issue before making bags to ship, not after, if they are saying they actually knew they were having the issues. Write on the bad...

Warm fermented American light lager (Kirin Ichiban Clone)

Would love to know how it compares. Usually when I do this I realize I didn't get it as close as I expected (Negra Modelo, Fullers ESB, Anchor Steam...) - I hope you have better luck!

NorthernBrewer - hops came with no alpha acid percentages printed, wth?

I have to imagine it's a mistake (but, you never know). I dropped this thread link into another post made with the same issue from another store NB bought out and obviously supplies.

Substitute yeast for a "Mexican Lager" (Negra Modelo)

Following up on this thread - I made my recipe again but with the Omega OYL-113 Mexican Lager yeast and even just 4 weeks from brewing it's simply wonderful. I still can't say what is a good substitute, and may try some options someday, but am also inclined to think that if I can't find the...

    Cycling help

Reminds me, unless I missed it twice, we didn't establish if you were thinking mountain bike or road bike? If mountain bike, I might up the 4$'s. My slightly overpriced Specialized was like $1500 a decade ago and it wasn't all that Special.

    Cycling help

Also agreed to visiting a shop. Do you have one anywhere nearby that you think you could trust? Not all shops are equal, but some are indeed outstanding. I think if you try out a few bikes you'll find one you like, I know that's how it works for me. A couple bikes are "it's fine, I think it...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I've got a half dozen or so friends and coworkers with EV's that say the exact same thing. They'll never buy anything else from here out.

I believe you, but - how is that even possible?

    Failing at yogurt

My little maker runs around 110. I've always had luck "reusing" a little of what I made. I am not saying your temps are too high but it makes me curious if somehow what you made ends up going beyond "making" and venturing into "sterilizing"? Just a thought, I truly have no idea.

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Yep, it's in the keg, has been for a few weeks now. It tastes fine but definitely is a little sweet and has too much body, both completely expected. I've thought about pitching a little more yeast into it, and can warm it back up to room temp for that, but I'm not sure it's worth it for the ~ 2...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

I have a question as well - co yeast pitching. My latest ale (ESB inspired) used Wyeast 1968. I had a 1L starter to be sure it was a good yeast pack and it was. I pitched at about 65F but forgot to turn on my cooling and after a day or so it got into the low 70's F. This wasn't a huge deal, but...
