☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

After a descale and backflush of miss silvia yesterday, and switching to the TWW, today's cappuccinos were the best I've had in a while. Pretty noticeable difference to me and my wife commented that her oat milk latte was also very good. I'm going to bet that it has more to do with the...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

My kettles and technivorm had a fair amount of scale buildup, so I cleaned them up this week. The kettles with white vinegar and the technivorm with cleancaf. Next is the espresso machine. This started me down the path of looking into water for coffee to cut down on this need. Ordered a...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

What's everyone roasting lately? I didn't buy any of that Misty Valley Yirg. I might go for that if it's still available. One way or another, I'm running low on good green coffee and looking for something good!

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I think a few people here got the Yirga Cheffe Konga Station from SM a couple months ago. I just roasted my first batch of it this morning, and got a big ROR crash during 1c. First coffee I've had that was this dramatic. I also marked 1c a little late on the graph, it started at a fairly low...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Negotiating with someone on H-B on a potential espresso machine trade. My PIDed Silvia plus cash for his La Spaziale A53 Lucca. It's not my dream machine, but a double boiler would sure be nice. He's within driving distance, so no shipping involved and I get a new machine in a single...

Danstar London ESB Dry Ale Yeast - Anyone use it yet?

Based on my experience with this yeast, my suggestion is to give it more time. Quoting my (rather old) post: I had a pretty similar stall and the fermentation picked back up with more time in the fermenter.

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

I've heard similar good things about their support in the past. Their grinders also seem to have more problems than they should, so great support is needed. This one was brought to my attention elsewhere...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

@jammin I don't remember how old your flat is, but this may be relevant to your interests: https://www.home-barista.com/buysell/april-2020-monolith-max-t64757.html Related, someone just posted a WTB for a Malkonig Tanzania on coffee geek. I haven't used my kr805 much and if i can sell for a...

Do I need to use cold water or can I go straight to hot tap?

Yeah, tank water heaters are generally not considered good for that either. If you've ever flushed your tank out and looked at the water, you would probably decide that you don't want to brew with that water. Using the cold tap is probably the right move. :mug:

Do I need to use cold water or can I go straight to hot tap?

This mostly depends on your plumbing and water heater. Tank-style water heaters typically advise to not use their hot water for cooking or drinking. Tankless styles typically do not have this advisory. If you have copper plumbing that may have lead based solder joints, I believe there is also...

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

Since we have some great pizza here in the Chicago area, I wanted to make a style that isn’t as popular here so we couldn’t compare to to anything that we easily get otherwise. Huge win there. We will make some tweaks and do it again.

    Picobrew Z

Seems to me the coffee emphasis was really just a desperate marketing push to make it look like they have a product that's attractive to a market larger than homebrewers. So, i'd say the exact same place.

    Picobrew Z

Seems like it's out of their hands. If they were going to do that, they would have had to do it before now.

It's also a question of how reliable the machines are and how long they are usable to owners without some kind of hardware support. Ingredient kits are one thing, tech support, cloud services and hardware service are another. If NB buys what's left of pico, users are going to expect them to...

Anyone hear of these guys before?

So, obviously they faked those testimonials on their site. Yeah, I'd avoid.

Anyone hear of these guys before?

Pretty sure nobody has done much with them yet, and no surprise that there isn't any info about it out there. Looks like it has existed for less than two weeks.
