    Oatmeal Stout

just opened one of my Chocolate Oatmeal Stouts and the beer is not thick at all. When brewing I used 3.5lbs of oats. I did a 3.5gallon brew and qc'd to 5gallons. I can submit more info on what grains/extract was used. My OG was ~1.055 and the FG was ~1.01. What could have been my issue?

    Priming with Light Brown Sugar

Finially after 3 months of sitting my Chocolate Oatmeal Stout is ready for bottling. Unfortunately I have to bottle this beer and do not have a keg yet. Has anyone used Light Brown Sugar to prime their beer? What kind of flavor should this add? I was going to use 5/8 cup unpacked Light Brown...

    S-04

Oh, I always ferment in primary for two weeks and then transfer to a secondary. I remix and then let sit and condition for another two weeks. Then bottle and let sit for at least 4 weeks. Plenty of time to condition and perfect tastes.

    S-04

I leave the specific gravity reader in the fermenter to I can open the lid and take readings at will. I will try cooling it a little to see I that helps. This is the first time I am using this yeast so I am in the dark.

    S-04

So i just brewed my First Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and pitched 1pkg of S-04 yeast. The brew started bubbling up at 12hrs and continued for 36hrs. Is this normal for a Stout The temperature has been stable around 72F and did not see much of a head. The OG was 1.070. I was going to wait about...

So, pitched the yeast and it was bubbling like crazy for the first 48hrs and and slowed down around the 72hr mark. and now there are no more bubbles. However there are past signs of ferment. Day 4 of first ferment. Question: Will the yeast continue to bubble and eat through the 1 or 2 week...

    BlueBerry Pale Ale

Yeah i was doing a little more research on adding fruit and i think it is 1/2lb per gallon of beer. Maybe no fruit beer right now. money is kind of tight, but then again i have two weeks to get more fruit. I dont want a strong blueberry flavor, but something light on the end. I may end up...

    BlueBerry Pale Ale

good looking out. I was going to sanitize the can and can opener. I think the blueberries should be clean of bacteria since they are canned, but that is still a good idea. It will be done!

    BlueBerry Pale Ale

I will still be using the 2.5gal Mr. Brew kit to try out new batches. I want to do smaller trial batches in the Mr. Brew kits, that way i may not have too much of a dump batch. I will be utilizing the blueberries in the second ferment. I had talked with some people and they recommend the...

    BlueBerry Pale Ale

So I will be starting my VERY first brew. I hope it goes well. I was sent a Mr. Beer Kit, but I have already bought replacement 5 gal carboys. I am also going to be tweaking the recipe to increase the ABV%. Hopefully all goes well. Anyone got any helpful hints?
