Adding Yeast in Secondary Before Bottling

    Agreed, that looks pretty cool.

Adding Yeast in Secondary Before Bottling

Maybe they do, the recipe calls for windsor ale yeast or wyeast high gravity yeast.

Adding Yeast in Secondary Before Bottling

It calls for priming sugar at the time of bottling, yes. But it calls for "yeast" 3 days before bottling so I was unclear on the amount, or also the time in secondary since it lists neither. I'll let it sit a week or so and add in a bit of extra yeast and hope for the best.

Anybody using a Glacier Tanks conical fermenter?

That's true, I replied before I saw how mind numbingly bad ass your set up was. Stick with the stainless.

    Bottling Bucket Spigot Question

Ah nice find, I had actually just found someone using a stopper and a copper tube but this will look a little nicer. Thanks

Adding Yeast in Secondary Before Bottling

I'm making a Gulden Draak clone from the CloneBrews book and am a little confused about the recipe. The recipe states that: "Three days before bottling, prime the beer in the 2nd stage with a dose of yeast." It doesn't specify the length of secondary fermentation or more importantly, how...

    Bottling Bucket Spigot Question

I mainly do 1 gallon batches but thoroughly enjoyed using a bottling bucket when I did a 5gal batch a few weeks ago. I've got a small 2gal bucket that I'd love to install a spigot on to use as a smaller bottling bucket. The question is: Why are all of the spigots so high on the bucket? It...

First GF Brew: Carrot-Rice-Quinoa. It's Drinkable!

Thanks for the tips. I'll look into using bananas as I try to use whole ingredients whenever possible. If that doesn't turn out I'll give malto a try.

First GF Brew: Carrot-Rice-Quinoa. It's Drinkable!

I personally would maybe add some citra hops, and something to bump up the body and abv. I'm not really sure what I would add to accomplish that without cara-pils or something like that. I'm still very new to homebrew and haven't been able to get into the science of it (due to prioritizing other...

So THAT'S why it says "Not for use in hot liquids"

Hmm, I've been putting my autosiphon and other tools through the dishwasher for weeks without issue, I didn't even realize these weren't rated for heat but I'll stop before an issue arises.

How do you clean your BIAB bag?

Some pretty simple ideas, I'm mostly hindered because I'm in an apartment with no access to a hose. I've tried to clean it in the sink and just end up with grain/hops (mostly rice hulls) all over the place with plenty still clinging all over the bag. Thank you for the tips though.

First GF Brew: Carrot-Rice-Quinoa. It's Drinkable!

Very excited. This was my 1st GF brew and only my 3rd brew period. I've been nervous all month about whether it would turn out and I'm pleased to say it's quite drinkable. It's very light, as is obvious by the picture but it has a nice flavor. Recipe was from the brooklyn brew shop book. I'm...

How do you clean your BIAB bag?

I've been brewing with cheesecloth to great success. However cleaning this this is kind of a nightmare. The best solution I've found is putting it in the washing machine, however I wouldn't put it in with anything else. I had grain bits in my pants pocket for a week after I washed my jeans in...
