    I use a Traceable Water-Proof Thermometer. After killing my digital kitchen thermometer just from heavy steam contact I decided I wanted to definately go water-proof. It's nice knowing I don't have to worry about getting it wet.

    As a former mobile detailer, what a terrible mess. I wouldn't want to tackle that job without a wet/dry vac to get the glass and a carpet extractor to shampoo and suck the beer out.

    No honey or added sugars in this batch. It was all-grain. I just find it strange that it took so long for it to get to this point of exploding. I also don't think it was over primed as I used one of the 4.5 oz packets of priming sugar from AHS.

    I like SG, probably because I used it all through school and now into my job I use SG daily for density measurements. I never heard of deg. Plato until I started brewing.

    I agree. I like to be able to watch and see how the beer is clearing up in secondary. I also like to be able to glance at the start of fermentation to get an idea of the yeast lag time, which is much easier to do in a carboy, than a bucket.

    I started with glass and then got some Better Bottles. I have and use them both, but I really prefer the Better Bottles. They're just so much lighter to handle, especially when cleaning with wet hands. I don't have some fear that they're going to slip out of my hands and explode into glass shards.
