    2009 Hop garden picture thread.

I took these shots on May 30th, when the vines were about 1 1/2 months old. Now they're about 2 1/2 months old and are twice as long!

    Kegging Cider Question

Use pot K and campden to kill the yeast, keg it and age it for however long you want. then sweeten to taste and carb. Or you could sweeten, then age.

Hard Lemonade question - yeast additives

I've had a 1.090 batch fermenting for about 3 weeks now. I initially pitched with a Pacman starter based on lemonade concentrate, but after 4 days had no gravity change, so I put in a packet of Nottingham. It finally started and began the long ferment. I got it down to 1.025 and put in campden...

    Perry??

Only one way to find out, and if you don't really like the pears anyway it's not a huge loss if it doesn't work out.

My new best friend, the crystal hop!

If you've got a Jim N Nick's barbeque location near you, try their Mudbone house ale; it's all crystal hops and is exceedingly delicious.

Hi Jericho, welcome to brewing and HBT! Many of us native speakers don't have the greatest English, so don't sweat it.

I would like some advice re: septic drain field repair

Well, they came out yesterday and dug a huge trench in my yard. When tracked down where all the lines were laid out in the yard, they figured out there's not enough room to put in new lines. However, there were six lines total, but only 2 have been functioning for the past who knows how long...

I would like some advice re: septic drain field repair

thanks man, I really appreciate your thoughts. I just don't have the know-how, time and/or equipment to do it myself. I definitely would if I did!

I would like some advice re: septic drain field repair

Yeah, Gwinnett Co. regulates the hell out of everything in this regard. Already had to have the inspector out to design the layout of the new system, and he will have to come back out to look at it before it gets covered up again. Everything has to have permits. BTW, it was $700 to get the tank...

Rain, Rain- Go AWAY! Stupid weather...

Sucks! I too am tired of the rain. If it makes you feel better, I've got to have my septic system drain field fixed tomorrow, so my yard's going to be torn up too!

I would like some advice re: septic drain field repair

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I greatly appreciate it. Janet, the county sanitary inspector has been out to see the lay of the land and has OK'd installing 100' of line. To my layman's understanding, this is how it appears: the current lines are not blocked or crushed, but they are not...

    Yeasts

Were they the same recipe, or at least similar ingredients? There are lots of things that can affect the clarity, and yeast flocculation is one of them. Highly flocculant yeasts will drop out of suspension better than less flocculant yeasts, and will contribute to clearer beers. White Labs...
