    Belgian Dubbel Simple dubbel

Good to see such a nice, simple grain bill with the candi syrups. I am going to try the D90 in my recipe. Also nice to see you had a decent tasting beer without all of the ramping up of temps. Will try to remember to report back.

    Root Beer Beer?

I believe that would be ok to use just the extract. Prob still add it to taste after fermentation I suppose.

    Root Beer Beer?

Here is my final recipe I brewed. It turned out really good! Probably one of my better "experimental beers" The beer was good at 4 months but was better at 6. There was a bitterness that we attributed to the wintergreen but who knows exactly where it came from. The good thing is it went away. It...

    sweet potato beer

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f76/all-grain-sweet-potato-ale-fall-ale-207671/ here is my attempt at a sweet potato beer. Couldn't find pumpkin at the time due to some shortage so swapped out for some sweet potato.

    Countertop Brutus 20

Thanks! I am happy with my brew set up now but over the next 5-8 years I definitely want to make it more compact and "automated".

    Countertop Brutus 20

I read through half the thread. I have one buring question my infantile mind can not figure out: What does the PID do? Does it turn off the element when the mash in temp is hit? Does it turn on the element when the temp gets too low during recirculation?

Advice on contamination in bottle cond. brews.

One more thing: the BEST beer I ever made, like the one that I was going to start a brewery with if I could, I used bottle water for. Sorry can't offer more of the chemistry side of things.

Advice on contamination in bottle cond. brews.

I have been having the same problem too on and off. My last beer was good for about 3-4 months or so and at that point it slowly started turning into a gusher. I came across a couple beers that I had for about 2 years and those gushed immediately but I do have a have a belgian golgen strong ale...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

4.8% ABV according to http://www.rooftopbrew.net/abv_calculator.php Adding rum won't change your FG because you didn't add fermentables (i.e.-sugars) you added alcohol, basically water. How much your ABV was bumped up by 16oz of rum I don't know. But if you said your beer is around 5% ABV you'd...

    Root Beer Beer?

one8tvw- is the above recipe still tasting good. gearing up to do a rootbeer beer here pretty soon and would like to use your recipe as a strong backbone to mine. Thanks!

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

what is your new recipe? Depending on how much you changed the grain bill (i.e. increased the unfermentables) you may only get to 1.032 anyway. Think about it. The original recipe is 1.086 to 1.023. You went up 9 gravity points for your OG from the original recipe and now you are nine points...

    Pumpkin pie spice

1 tablespoon is fine for my tastebuds but I have seen up to 3 tablespoons and as little as 1 teaspoon. One of those 'take good notes before and after' to dial in your recipe kind of thing. But starting low never hurt anyone.

American brown ale - dry hopping ?

I always dry hop, to some degree, my american ales. usually pales get .5oz. amber/brown get 1oz. ipa's get 2 or more oz's.

Will this work as a basic stout?

you could always split up the specialty grains. Like use .5 lbs for the whole mash and maybe throw in the other .5lbs towards the end just to get the color out.

    [Chipotle] Smoked Mild/Brown

Rogue makes a chipotle ale. May want to try it or do some searches for a clone of the beer to get an idea of how much chipotle to use.

American Brown Ale Sierra Nevada Tumbler Clone

Yeah I think a tear down, deep cleaning, with some new gaskets are in order.

American Brown Ale Sierra Nevada Tumbler Clone

My recipe turned out really good! I can taste a touch of smoke at the end of a drink but nothing too oustanding with the smoke flavor. One of the better beers I have made lately. Took time on brew day and throughout the fermentation and even bottled this beer as my kegged beers just haven't been...

    Scotch Ale - thoughts?

It was my impression that the dirty bastard clone is setup to mimic a traditional wee heavy boil down with all of the crystals etc...I may be wrong though. So for the OP I think with the recipe and their planned boil down will increase maltiness to be sure.

    Scotch Ale - thoughts?

I did what corkybstewart posted above and had plenty of smoke flavor I believe from the yeast. And I also boiled 7 gallons down to 5 gallons in the kettle.I think you would be fine without the addition of smoke malt. And the couple articels I have read about wee heavy beg and plead with the...
