    What to brew? Inherited grain.

Thank you all for your condolences. A good way to honor him would be to brew a beer for him. I like the SMASH idea. These are just 2 grains that I haven’t had the chance to fool with. Shiner Bock is an old school fav, we used to crush those some 20 plus years ago.

    What to brew? Inherited grain.

So my friend passed away and his wife gave me some of his brewing stuff and 2 bags of grain. 50lbs of pilsner malt and 40 of 6 row. I don’t brew or drink many pilsners and have only used 6 row to assist with enzymes when my base is all munich, I have also heard of it being used for the hard stuff.

    Strong mead needs sweetening

So i made a mead batch about 8 to 10 yrs ago. It was my 2nd batch, first batch caught lightning in a bottle, was amazing and surprised me carbonation, this one finished at around 20% abv, unfortunately my notebook from then got ruined. I was hoping by now it would have mellowed a bit but man it...

    After Diacetyl rest?

Ok, I have been making my Oktoberfest for many years and a question just came to me. After my Diacetyl rest when I put the fermenter back in the fridge to cool it back down how do I prevent it from sucking air back thru the airlock due to the drop in temp leading to lower pressure in the fermenter?

    New brew software

Thanks. I do not have a computer so no need to go on anything but the ipad. Whatever happened to beer alchemy? It worked fine for what I used it for.

    New brew software

So, I had beer alchemy and it worked pretty good. I got a new Ipad and it says it can’t download it from the cloud because it is not on the app store anymore. I searched some of the past forums and many suggest beer alchemy or other apps that are no longer available. Anyone have a suggestion...

    Fridge freezer combo headache

I picked up an old GE fridge freezer combo to replace my old kegerator. The price was right but I am trying to figure out the top freezer portion. I use it as a shelf for glassware but do not have a need for it to run at freezer temps. It drips condensation making my shelfs wet during the...

converting frigridaire fridge/freezer combo to kegerator

I have a similar fridge/kegerator and a similar temp control and it works. I like the idea of having a thermometer in a cup of water and get it set at the temp you like it. I have not removed the freezer section I use it as a shelf for glassware. I would love to find out if there was a way to...

    Anti-Hero Clone

When I visited Chicago I fell in love with Anti-Hero from Revolution brewing. I searched the threads and could only find one attempt by ejf063. From how I read he thought his beer tasted good but not like Anti-Hero. I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas on this amzing beer that we...

    Add yeast prior to bottling?

Brewed my belgo stout back in early September, used wyeast abbey, just getting around to bottling. Since it has sat for 3 months in fermenter should I add a little yeast before bottling or just go with what I got?

    Munich IPA

Anyone had any luck making an ipa using munich as a base? Got a big bag to do my oktoberfest and my stout and have about 10lbs left over. Just curious as to how this would work. I do like my IPAs with a backbone more than the thin west coast style. Thank you for the help
