Show of hands: Who doesn't want to go into commercial brewing?

good question. I suppose if I won the mega millions and I didn't have anything to do except fish and brew I would maybe open a small craft beer joint. just one location though. The whole keeping up on the money aspect would be a pain.

    Fridge question

got my keg a couple of weeks ago and everything is great. Currently, I have it chilling comfortably in my lagering freezer with about two cases of a great honey lager which is still aging. Here in lies the problem. I need to build a kegerator. I cannot brew another lager and lager that...

    Keg question

Just got my keg today. There is no purge valve on the lid. I was under the impression from what I have read and watched that a quick purge is necessary after the first injection of co2 in order to get the small amount of oxygen on top out. I called the company that I ordered from (which is on...

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

Well I brewed it up yesterday and I was surprised to see that the color was quite a bit darker than described. Also my IBU's were down a bit. I could only get amarillo pellets with AAU's of 7.2 Not worried though. Must just be a crop differance. I sampled after i checked the gravity. Pretty...

I take it you are steeping the 3lbs of grain in the begining? How long? Also When are you putting your DME in?

    Help with gravity/ yield

Thank you everyone for your help. I really appreciate it. The ABV is not as big of a concern as having more control over flavor. I really enjoy the brewing process so if i can extend that by another hour...SWEET!! :ban:

    Help with gravity/ yield

I do all of my cooking in 2.5 gallons and then add another 2.5 when the wort is cooled. I stir and mix very well then pitch my yeast. If I steep/mash in the 1.25 quarts/lb and then fill to my normal 2.5 gallons for boiling; will I still have a good yield? Or will adding the water dilute it?

    Help with gravity/ yield

How about just using crystal malt. This is my first time using 2 row. I wanted to make the beer a lighter color and I achieved that goal. However, I was hoping for a little more gravity. I also understand that the 2 row really is not going to have too much effect on the color. Almost none, and...

    Help with gravity/ yield

Made a nice golden ale yesterday and I was puzzled to find that my OG calculation was off considerably. I was expecting 1.064 and ended up with 1.044. I was hoping someone could tell me what the yield numbers are for 2 row malt and Dextrine(carapils). I'm sure that I miss calculated. I know...
