    ISO Male Hop Plant

If you use something like fedex doesn’t it allow you to declare what the material is?

    ISO Male Hop Plant

Just like the title says, I am interested in getting a hold of a male plant. It would be preferable to know what type of hop it is but since its male I know thats a bit tricky. I would also consider accepting pollen from a male if getting a rhizome is out of the picture

    Winterizing young plants

I am in zone 5 and the pots are fairly small since they didn’t really grow until late. They were cuttings so they were originally in water until I saw new growth then put them in potting soil in small planters with some rooting hormone. There is still green on them so I’m a little afraid to snip...

    Winterizing young plants

We have had a couple good frosts so far this season and I have two plants that were real late bloomers. No cones produced and only grew a few inches but only started growing during late summer. I assume they are still healthy and (hopefully) will come back next spring. Because they are so young...

    Oats and Oat Milk

My thought is that I’ve had too many oatmeal stouts that don’t taste like oats. Obviously it’s a fairly delicate flavor compared to other stout flavors but still. I was considering soaking a cinnamon stick in the oat milk to try to hit that oatmeal cookie taste. I just don’t know best practices

    Bizarre cascade(?) plant

I tried growing cascade last year from a cutting for it to dry up and die. I composted it and used it to fill a hole to find a hop crawling up my fence this past spring. Assuming it was my zombie cascade finally come to life I potted it in potting soil and it took off great all spring and...

    Propagation from Cuttings?

So I moved everything into pint pots outside and most died within a week or two. I did have one plant start to spout new growth and one that stayed green but dont see anything new. I intend to cut them down once the weather gets cold and move them into a shed until the spring. Maybe the roots...

    Oats and Oat Milk

So I have gone through some threads about brewing with oat milk and had a few questions. I plan on doing an oatmeal stout and using oats as much as I can. Flaked oats, malted oats, oat milk. I have been reading and quite frankly think it makes more sense to just make some oat milk at home...

    Propagation from Cuttings?

I was doing very little water to keep the soil moist but it wasnt drying out very well being inside. I have recently started to split their time inside and out. Should I lop off the dead withered leaves to try and promote new growth?

    Propagation from Cuttings?

I have them getting non direct sunlight for most of the day. They’re inside in a sunny room. I was hoping to see some signs of rooting before I moved outside

    Propagation from Cuttings?

So I recently got some cuttings and dipped some in rooting hormone and right into small containers with moist potting soil while others I just stuck in water in beer bottles. All of the cutting that were "planted" all had their leaves shrivel while all the cuttings in bottles mostly shriveled...

    "Pruning" First year plant

I know you arent really supposed to prune first year hop plants. So my question is a bit different. Right now, my (I think) cascade plant is doing really well. Still potted in potting soil and compost grew about 8 to 10 feet and has since grown really long side shoots. This is my first year ever...

Do flaked malted oats have any diastatic power?

I do not believe there is such thing as "flaked malted oats." There are flaked oats which is essentially plain oatmeal from the grocery store and then there is malted oats. I am also fairly certain neither of those products have diastatic power. Id be a little wary of 50% base 50% specialty in...

Need advice for my first starter.

If you are super concerned you can always pitch one packet and then throw in some yeast nutrient for some piece of mind

    Hops and Yeast for NEIPA

I am no expert but from my understanding, a lot of people went to english yeasts because they are inherently "fruity/estery" when fermented a bit warmer. If anything this pairs well with the flavors youre going to get from the hops. I, like most people, really enjoy us-05 and its versatility...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Last batch (and best one so far) was roughly 60% maris otter, 25% oats (mostly malted with some flaked), and white wheat malt. Hops were Cascade, El Dorado, Amarillo, Mosaic, Motueka. Awesome awesome flavor with a beautiful fake candy mixed berry aroma and taste. Still hazy just like I said...

Any Lallemand Philly Sour feedback or experience to share?

Ive used this now a few times and the only thing I can say is the longer you can leave it in the fermenter the better. Let it sit on fruit for weeks and it will only benefit you. There has been times where it really only tastes "right" to me after about a month bottle conditioning (after 2 weeks...

    Hops and Yeast for NEIPA

In terms of yeast s-04 is fine but I’d stay away from us-05. 05 just doesn’t push the hops forward in my eyes and as a yeast is just very neutral in general. If you’re considering liquid yeast I’d recommend any Conan strain for you. In my experience it has a bit brighter hop expression with...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I am typically at 2 oz/gallon. Last batch was a little less. For 3 gallons it was 1.5 oz whirlpool, 1.5 oz high fermentation, 2 oz 3 days before bottling. I have gone higher than 2 oz/gallon in the past (though not drastically more) and didnt see any difference in turbidity.
