Fellowship of the Drink XXVII: Welcome to the Club

@DrGMG's box showed up on Wednesday I believe and I've been a bad beer-swapper and not posted about it! My excuse is work slowly grinding me to dust. Not a good excuse I know. Anyway, all is safe and sound and dry, and now I also have a box of Mac and Cheese for lunch! :)

    Homebrew Talk 3D Print Thread.

Very nice. I love that more folks are doing color layers. It really adds a lot to the prints for minimal effort. Printing anyway - sometimes designing for that is a challenge.

    [OT] HAM Radio Folks?

Well to close it up: I didn't have parts and pieces to build a "spider on a socket." When you have nothing to start with, a "cheap and easy" project starts to add up. So I purchased one of the J-Poles I linked to above. The guy selling them was pretty quick to get back to me (within reason)...

This must be what it's like when we argue about yeast strains in front of newbies. :)

Well. I do have an impedance meter - but I also think we might be over-studying for the test. If I get alerts I'll be happy. I find this interesting however and want to learn more.

So how does it get tuned with no transmitter?

I think I received from @TwistedGray last time so that seems good.

How does one do that with a receive-only setup? I thought SWR was a transmit function?

BrewPi Remix – What’s Old is New Again

There's still something wrong - I thought I had the Tilt color in the header. I mean good it's not crashing, and yes it should be plotting the SG. I wish I could explain how much this sucks living in an RV - at least when it comes to things like this.

It is - reminiscing is not the same as complaining. You do the package with which you want to represent your area.

You have that new earthquake warning radio don’t you?

    [OT] HAM Radio Folks?

They do, man. And because I'm in an RV I need enough time (hopefully) to hook up and get out of the way. I was thinking I might make a ground-plane 1/4 wave based on the SO-239 and copper rod DIY's would be fine - but honestly, once I buy all the parts it's not much cheaper than the J-Pole.

I need a weather alert radio, and these are ~162MHz run by NOAA. These will wake you up from a coma if there's a warning in your area. So yeah for signal fidelity there are lots of better choices. What I need is that alert feature which is only on the seven NOAA bands.

    [OT] HAM Radio Folks?

I am getting 1-2 bars out in the yard, depending on how I turn/point the antenna. I'm in somewhat of a fringe area where I am, with the station being dependent on which side of the rise you are on.
