    Grainfather!!

Can someone tell me what the electric frequency (hz) is of the pump on the US (110v) version. I live in Europe but will be back in the states in a couple of years and converters are great at converting voltage... not frequency. I've seen a picture of pump on the 220v version that is 50/60hz...

    Any reviews/advice on the ExChilerator?

No issues here either. One pass gravity fed at about 3/4 open on the bottom valve usually results in tap water temperature for me. Does exactly what I want it to. A little tipsy if you don't mount it though. I need to figure that out... But I'd rather be brewing!

    Krausen Lack there of

It sounds like it's still making beer... So obligatory: relax and have a homebrew. There's always gravity reading too. Now that the standard annoying hbt answers that don't really answer your question are out of the way... What's your water like? There's nothing in your recipe that looks...

    Any reviews/advice on the ExChilerator?

I've got about 15 brews on it, all gravity fed with SoCal 68-73 deg water. Dropped the wort temp to the tap temp in one pass. Love the thing. No impending deterioration signs noticed yet. If give it my endorsement after starting this thread a while ago...

    Finally! A good Pale Ale

PM me if so. I've been on island about 3 months now and just ordered some ingredients to get back in the habit...

    Any reviews/advice on the ExChilerator?

I ended up buying one of these. While I have yet to use it for a brew, I took it for a hot water test spin the day after I got it. Using gravity only and water directly from my hose (about 75 deg) I was able to get it to about 77-78 in one pass. Getting any better will obviously require a...

    Any reviews/advice on the ExChilerator?

Found on eBay here Looks nice and compact with an inline thermometer. Just curious if anyone has given it a try. I did not see any thread on it yet in my search.

Better inside pic, with an external and a view of what else is going on today :D

    Wheat malt in an IPA???

I also did a wheat laden IPA . . . about 40% wheat coupled with 8oz of honey malt. Used Colombus, Amarillo, and Citra . . . it's awesome.

    Trashcan Kegerator

I built one of these for a party this coming weekend. I'll post a review of performance next week. I apologize for the blurry inside pic. It looked good enough on the iphone not to take another.

    HLT size?

Great thoughts all. I don't see myself venturing into the 10gal batch range... but I'll have to weigh the options.

    Big belgian yeast strategy

I realized I never closed the thread on this. I did indeed pitch all of the saved yeast at once, and boy was that yeast happy. The blowoff tube sounded like a two-stroke engine, and by the time it was all said and done, my alcohol calcs estimate my beer is somewhere around the 12% mark. That...

    HLT size?

Greetings all. I'm looking to make the all-grain plunge, and planning on going the round igloo cooler method. I've decided on a 10 gallon cooler so that I'm never OG limited in 5 gallon batches. (there are plenty of threads on this topic) But my question is: How big of a HLT do I need if...

    Big belgian yeast strategy

I've got what probably amounts to 4-5x a vial/smackpack in my washed yeast stash. But part of me wanted to also do a starter, hence the blossoming of ideas. Every time I've used my washed yeasts I've experienced quick and vigorous fermentation, so I should probably take the experiential...

    Big belgian yeast strategy

I've got some washed Belgian yeast in the fridge that I was planning on using for my belgian dark strong, but pitch and forget seemed to assume too much. What I assume is that my previous whit acted like a giant starter, which will provide plenty of happy yeast cells for fermentation. But then...

    Water Filter Setup

This seems like a shortcut to the build (which I admire and was about to build until laziness turned me to amazon). Besides a separate shutoff valve, what's the difference?

    Wierd dlotted pressure relief valves

Just to put a bow on this thread for any searching with similar lids: the replacement PRV did not fit. It did not screw down far enough. But poppet o-rings did fit the slotted posts pictured above, and now both work nicely as a hand tight, screw style PRV.

    Extract Whit thoughts

I was in the exact opposite position about 4 years ago. All I've ever used (Belgian wise) is the 3463. Makes a great Wit . . . I'm going to wash the yeast and try it on a Dark Belgian Strong that I intend on aging until Octoberish.

    Extract Whit thoughts

That's what I ended up doing. Not sure it's that much lighter from it's predecessor, but it always looks dark in the bucket.
