Looking for the ultimate homebrew "Chopped" ingredient combo

Honestly, I've never seen the show. This was a club members idea. But from what I understand, the concept is the same - every participant is working with the same list of ingredients to create something tasty. Anybody got some good combos?

Looking for the ultimate homebrew "Chopped" ingredient combo

I am putting together a little intraclub homebrew competition and was looking for some feedback. The idea is modeled after the cooking show "Chopped" which makes the chefs use a specific list of ingredients to create a dish. For brewing, I was thinking of a hop, a specialty grain and an...

    Smack pack inactive

I am planning on brewing a wit today, so i smacked my wyeast 3944 belgian wit pack yesterday morning at 10ish. The plan was to let it swell a little and then dump it into a starter. But when 1:30 came around, it wasn't very swollen and I had to leave for a BBQ. I knew I wouldn't be home until...

    Advice concerning my new baby...

Domminigan, I'll sell it to you for $400, otherwise I'm taking the drill to her....... Also, is anybody talking about energy inefficiency from actual experience or are they just assuming it is bad? I read a post somewhere that the guy's new "energy star" turned on like every 20mins, but his...

    Almost Full Boil

full boils are the way to go if you can do it for several reasons, such as hop utilizaton. You should be fine with the 2.5 gallon buffer. I have done it with more wort in a smaller pot. I would be careful adding really hot wort to a glass carboy. Thick glass doesn't like extreme temp changes...

I want to sanitize my bottle to make a starter, so I was wondering if I made 5 gallons of diluted Iodophor concentrate today (1 tbsp per 5 gals), would it still be effective in a few days? Anybody know if there is a certain amount of time the iodophor can be diluted before it ceases to...
