    My Concrete countertop bar build

Hey thanks again I forgot about this thread. I planed the bar by pouring a cold one and laying out a few 2x4's. I knew I wanted storage space for the wine fridge and my carboys so that is what I built in first. I got on line and checked what was reccomended for counter and bar heights and...

    Low Alcohol recipe?

Well I let it mash at 152. My alcohol ended up at 4% Tastes good going into the secondary though. I think I need to cut back on the grain. I used 10 lbs total.

    Low Alcohol recipe?

Alrighty, thanks for the advice, I'm gonna try the lower temp and mix up the recipe today. I'll let you know how it goes. Yeah the term I'm looking for is "Session Beer", I just could not remember it. Thanks all.

    Low Alcohol recipe?

I've been brewing AG for over a year now (only about a 125 gal though). What I am looking for is advice to make a good tasting low alcohol beer. Is is better to use the same ingredients and just less of them? Or should I use bolder ingredients? I have a couple of recipies I like but I...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Made 2 gallons of this 2 months ago. It looks great and is clear but none of the fruit has dropped, can I still bottle it? Do I need to add anything before I bottle it? Thanks

    My Concrete countertop bar build

Thanks Yup I have 40 bucks into the oars and about 8 hours work. I could have bought a set for 100 and spent more time brewing.

    LHBS Pet Peeves

Our LHBS is only open when they feel like it. I have been there numerous times only to find the door locked during posted hours while the Open sign is on. I now drive 45 miles to Ft. Collins, their prices are higher but they are OPEN during the hours posted. I just wish they were not so rude...

Help, the Lees floated to the top!

OK thanks, next time I will try that. Been a whole grain brewer for a little while now this is only my second batch of wine. It does however taste fantastic so I'm happy about that.

Help, the Lees floated to the top!

Yep, its a wine expert kit and I did move it to a secondary. The stuff that floated up is about 1/4" thick. It is what settled out after fining. It was still there so I just put a drill powered whip in there and spun the crap out of it. We shall see what happens. As far as degassing goes I...

Help, the Lees floated to the top!

Cool I kinda figured leave it alone, I was in the mood to bottle today but I gave up on that idea. I have never seen that before it looked like something out of a sci-fi show. Like a bad version of the blob.

Help, the Lees floated to the top!

I was degassing a Chilean Malbec in preparation of bottling. I was using a vacuum pump enjoying the bubble show and all of a sudden this thick gelatinous mat floated up and got stuck in the neck of the carboy. It's floating and I can't suck it out (yea I tried). What should I do? I was...

    My Concrete countertop bar build

Thanks for the props. The fridge I drug out of my Wife's Uncle's basement. I painted it with Rustoleum thinned down and shot thru a cheap spray gun in my drive way.It holds 2 kegs perfect with the racks out. I rolled the cabinets with the same stuff.

    My Concrete countertop bar build

Yep those are all I found as well. I used 5000psi Sacrete it took 300lbs to do the bar top. I lugged it down stairs in a bucket and built the mold out of the top of the bar. I used some white board (can't remember what it's called but it's cheap) and coated it with paste wax to get it to...

    My Concrete countertop bar build

Thanks, First you have to sand the concrete a little, I did it by hand and left it kind of rough. The root killer stains the concrete a blue green color. The iron makes it brown. I then coated it with 3 coats of Carnuba wax and melted it with the torch to make the colors come through. I seems...

    My Concrete countertop bar build

I'm no carpenter by any means but I did have some time on my hands. I also had a spare kitchen in the basement that I always wanted to make a bar out of. So it took about a month working part time and 500 bucks but here it is. It's not done yet as I had another project crop up but I hope to...
