Speed up Bottle Carbonation - Temp?

Just to follow up on this... The swirl, appropriate temp and 24 hour chill time really helped. We have another family get together in 2 weeks so I'll bring more then. Lesson learned.

Speed up Bottle Carbonation - Temp?

Yes I added Ginger, Orange, cinnamin... I only chilled it for about a hour, the ginger was dominant. I think it will turn out good, once given the appropriate amount of time. Yesterday I moved the bottles from the basement (I was keeping them too cold) swirled up a bottle and will throw it in...

Thanks for all the reply's! I definetly learned some stuff from this. My family is all Miller/Bud Lite drinkers (except for my mom who really likes this blueberry beer, Wild Blue). I brought over some Belgian Dubble before and they all said they enjoyed it. I brewed a Spiced up Hefer...

    Imperial IPA vs. Barleywine

Well I will let you know in about 6 months! I did 10gal and went with WLP099 and Wyeast 1028 London Ale. I went with a starter 2 days prior to pitching. They are very different colors. The 1028 has some red in it while the 099 is kinda yellow orange, looks nasty! But as long as it taste...

Can a cooler be to big for a MT?

Is there any min/max for pounds of grain for different size coolers. I know roughly13lbs is about max for a 5 gallon but whats the range for a 10gallon or a 50qt, 60qt, 70qt?

    My first all grain adventures

Whats the gauge/meter on the carboy?
  18. mike4420

Yes, for steeping the grains. We are doing our first mini-mash and I wanted to order from 7 bridges and noticed the cotton bag was $11 compared to $4-5 for nylon from Austin Home Brew.
  19. mike4420

Cotton or nylon bag. Is there a difference? Cotton is natural & nylon is synthetic. The goal is for the best possible brew. Would one produce a better brew in anyway than the other. :drunk:
