    Band-Aid Ale

Yeah, I hear you. I think its mainly since the beer is so light I can purely taste the yeast. I was thinking the same about US-05 but I just made an American brown with it that came out stellar. I did however drop the fermentation temp a little and aerated the chilled wort more thoroughly...

    Band-Aid Ale

This is weird but after a week from my post(maybe as little as 3 days) the flavor completely dropped off and is now undetectable. I should have just stuck to RDWHAHB.

    Band-Aid Ale

Interesting. I couldn't imagine it being chlorine related as this beer boils for 90 Min and Im using an inline carbon filter. I would think its related to my mash/sparge schedule yet I have made this same beer before without any problems (using Nottingham). Next time I will definitely...

    Band-Aid Ale

I always pitch yeast @ about 80f. I usually aerate as I fill carboy by using a funnel with a screen with a lot of splashing going on then usually rock the carboy. This time I did not use the screen and blamed my final gravity being high on lack of aeration. Could lack of aeration also cause...

    Band-Aid Ale

So I made a very simple "lawnmower" ale using US-05. I have brewed this in the past using the exact same procedure with no problems(although I used Nottingham). Fermented in primary for 2 weeks. Yeast foam would not drop so I dropped the temp from 68 down to about 60. which made it drop. I then...

    Stupid me. Help!

Popped open a bottle and its delicious. 7 day fermentation & 6 days bottle conditioned. Maybe not an award winner but high production and very refreshing!

    Stupid me. Help!

Thanks for the RDWHAHB. I may have jumped the gun on tannins as my ph was looking good. I converted this recipe from an extract recipe and forgot to account for the extra hop utilization from the full boil. Maybe the taste of the fuggles just seemed unbalanced from missing the flaked corn...

    Stupid me. Help!

I attempted to brew my first batch on a brand new(to Me) system: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/new-brewing-rig-181800/ I brewed an English Mild. The recipe called for 1.28 lbs.(6 gal batch) of flaked corn. I forgot to add to mash! Idiot! It hit my estimated OG on the money but I also had...

    New Brewing Rig

I have to say for the maiden voyage everything went well around 75% My first batch, however was kind of rough(Have to save it!). These burners are beasts! 4 batches @ 5 Gallons 3x 60 min boil 1x 90 minute boil. 1 1/2 propane tanks.

    New Brewing Rig

Dude, 5 Gal. batches were tiny in this thing. I didn't reach my therm on the mash tun :( I brewed four 5 gal batches and built a fermentation container. Pics to come.

    New Brewing Rig

My goal is to do bigger batches soon. I've always fermented in carboys now its time to step it up. I've heard mixed reviews on the plastic conicals (minibrew etc.) Im thinking about using kegs for fermentation but it would seem tough to harvest yeast etc.

Recipe quest. Appeal to the masses

Hi there. I am looking for suggestions on recipes(AG) for an Ale that my friends can enjoy. I like to brew beers of all styles however I lack experience in building a beer that completely satisfies the "lite lager" drinkers. I would prefer to stay away from "lagering" if possible I...
