    Adding Hops when Bottling

from my earlier post, this batch clocked in at 7 IBU's when I put the recipe into hopville. This was my first batch back after 5 yrs, so once I realized I would have an under hopped beer in all 3 categories (bitterness, flavor, aroma) after using only 1 oz of 3.2 cascades in the boil, I wanted...

How does my first beer look?

Looks good, Cheers. Tough ending to watch. Proud of their tourney though Here is my first beer after a 6 year break, All cascade english pale ale with a 1/4 lb of malted wheat for excellent head retention.

Will my auto-siphon troubles oxidize my beer?

I thought I ruined a nice batch of cascade pale ale with my auto siphon. I never strained the hops out of my wort and after sitting 3 weeks in the primary, I had a hell of a time racking to a bottling bucket. Air bubbles, hop gunk, everything. I eventually dumped what was left in my primary...

    Adding Hops when Bottling

OK, I just did this with 1 oz of cascade hops, boiled for 30 min in a half gallon of water, priming sugar in for the last 5. AH-mazing. totally saved a 5 gallon batch of cascade english pale ale.

    Celis White

I bet this stuff on tap is heavenly. I typically stuck with Hoegarden and never felt the need venture out for other Wits. Think I might do that now. Never heard of the MBC, never saw there stuff when I lived in Ohio. I think this is one of my favorite beers period, now just Wits. Will be...

Pairing Simcoe with Chinook Hops - any good?

That looks delicious, I love cascade, I might dry hop with that or more simcoe. Is this Ranger as in New Belgium? One of the few beers I really enjoy from them.

    New Columbus, Ohio Homebrew Site

I love to see this happening in columbus. I think it's great that they added the pub and home brew store which can carry the Brew On Premises Idea. I got my start at the Wine Makers Shop just North of these guys on High st. They didn't carry much besides kits, but it was a start. What a...

    Strong smell!!!

I love the evap cooler method, I work from home a lot so I don't need a bin filled with water. I just put the fermenter on top of a towel, put a t shirt over it, and mist it down every now and then. I also keep frozen gallon jugs in my closet, and a fan if necessary. I finally have my brew...

Looking For: Simple IPA recipe 5 Gallon Extract

I love two hearted, one of the best around. Why is that with IPA's? I've heard a couple people like to turn em' quick. Is that to preserve the hop flavor/aroma? This is a big beer, so I figured it would need extra time to mellow and smooth.

Imperial IPA - what did I do wrong?

that seems like a lot of extract for the yeast to handle straight from the pack. I haven't used Nottingham before but I rehydrated us-05 on a big IPA yesterday and had activity in less than 2 hours. I plan on going at least two weeks in the primary, no secondary. Maybe that would help.

    It's Hard to Wait

I'm gonna give hop growing a try here in Phoenix. it won't be long before we hit triple digit temps, but I have a spot with permanent shade and I will see what I can do to keep things comfy for the plants. If they don't take off, no worries, but I think it would be really fun to be brewing...

    It's Hard to Wait

Thanks! And yea, I'm getting back to back batches going so I always have stuff in the pipeline. I'm finally ready to bottle a 3 gallon batch tomorrow after 15 days, but I will keep another in the primary for 3-4 weeks. As each primary opens up a new batch is going right on in so I can keep...
