    Coffee Oatmeal Stout Critique

Fair point. I adjusted the 60min addition to .5oz and replaced .5oz Willamette with .5oz Chinook. Now Beersmith is saying 27.4 IBUs. Might be a little on the low end?

    Coffee Oatmeal Stout Critique

Hey all - here's what I'm thinking. Any tips would be appreciated. Going by the Mad Fermentationist regarding coffee addition: All Grain (5.5 gal) OG: 1.064 IBU: 40.4 SRM: 32.1 ABV: 6.4% 9lbs 8 oz - Marris Otter 2lbs - Flaked Oats 1lb - Chocolate Malt 8oz - Roasted Barley 8oz - Crystal 80L...

Recipe Critique: Hazyish IPA with Kveik Yeast

    Ok, here's what I'm thinking now: 11lbs - 2 Row 2lbs - Flaked Wheat 1.5oz - Columbus (15 mins) 2oz - Columbus (WP @ 170º; 30 mins) 1oz - Galaxy (WP @ 170º; 30 mins) 6oz - Galaxy (DH) 1.5oz - Columbus (DH)

Recipe Critique: Hazyish IPA with Kveik Yeast

Thanks for the input. So even though Beer Smith calculates this as 58 IBUs, you think it would be too bitter? Maybe I could lessen the 60min charge to .5oz and add the other .5 at 15min. Maybe I can add an oz of Galaxy for the whirlpool... I'm really looking to get the dank, pungent, Columbus...

Recipe Critique: Hazyish IPA with Kveik Yeast

Hey Guys, Here's what I'm thinking for my next brew. Really want to try out Omega Hordnindal yeast due to the fruity esters it gives off. I'm kind of thinking a Trillium Congress Street feel with the Columbus to help balance out the yeast and fruitiness of the Galaxy. Hoping for a fruity, dank...

NEIPA's Whirlfloc and the case of polyphenol haze

Thanks for your input! I guess I was more or less trying to go for a Trillium Congress Street feel: http://www.trilliumbrewing.com/trillium-congress-street-ipa/. The DDH variation is one of the best IPAs I've ever had. I was going to go lighter on the Columbus side.

NEIPA's Whirlfloc and the case of polyphenol haze

So you think using whirlfloc with Galaxy will eliminate its harshness? I'm thinking about doing a Galaxy/Columbus combo to get that tropical fruit/dankness effect, but it would be a higher ratio of Galaxy.

NEIPA's Whirlfloc and the case of polyphenol haze

I feel like I’m experiencing this. My grain bill was 20% flaked oats and wheat (10 & 10). 12oz of hops between whirlpool and dry hop. 6 of 12oz was Citra and I also have 1oz Citra cryo hops in the keg. No whirlfloc, no cold crash. It is tasting astringent but still very tasty. My wife thinks it...

Hornindal Kveik is blowing my mind

Thinking about using this yeast with a NEIPA grain bill and hop schedule, but am thinking just using Galaxy and Columbus. Shooting for tropical and dank. 6oz whirlpool (4oz Galaxy/2oz Columbus); 6oz dry hop (4oz Galaxy/2oz Columbus). What you do guys think?

Citra / Galaxy / El Dorado APA?

I just did my second NEIPA batch using Citra, El Dorado, and Galaxy (3:2:1 ratio). 6oz whirlpool, 6oz dry hop, and 1oz cryo Citra in the keg. It's fantastic. Great hop combo.

What's your process for cold crashing (temp, time, airlock, etc.)? I haven't read much into it, but from what I have seen, people are concerned about suck back. I haven't been able to get a full 5 gal in my corny keg with my last two NEIPA's because of all the trub.

    Head/Lacing on second pour

The foam on my first pour is excellent: If I were to correctly cool my tower, this wouldn't happen, right? It would then be a matter of the line balancing, etc.?

    Head/Lacing on second pour

Thanks for the input, @Hwk-I-St8. I think one of the big issues is the temperature difference in the draft tower. I'll have to look into that. If I recall correctly, I have 6' of beer line. I haven't used the calculator that @jaymosbeershack linked to; just went off the recommendation of the guy...

    Just goofed my NEIPA

^^ What he said. Not clear if you poured or used a siphon. If siphoned, your beer isn't ruined. I didn't do closed transfers on my two NEIPA batches and they turned out great.
