Garage Needed In San Francisco East Bay Area

Hello all! I am looking for a garage in the San Francisco east bay area, and a possible business partner for a brewery startup. I have some great equipment to start recipe formulation, including some recipes already created-just need the creative space and a partner to execute everything with...

The Barley Crusher Malt Mill & 3/8" Drill Question

The only reason I want a cordless drill is because we are brewing in our garage and have one power outlet and we don't want to draw a lot of power from it. We already have a fridge and a mini AC hooked up to it. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

The Barley Crusher Malt Mill & 3/8" Drill Question

So I'm slightly confused. The site says you need a 3/8" drill but a 1/2" will work just as well?

The Barley Crusher Malt Mill & 3/8" Drill Question

Good information to know, thank you. It will be used exclusively for the drain mill so it won't ever be removed.

The Barley Crusher Malt Mill & 3/8" Drill Question

So I am looking at picking up the The Barley Crusher Malt Mill and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good cordless drill for the unit? I'm sure I could use any 3/8" drill but if anyone has any recommendations that would be great!

Controlled fermentation temps. How are you doing it?

lol At least you have temperature control for several months. A few weeks ago it was 105 and then the next day just barely 80 and the next week later was not even higher than 75! Not ideal for fermentation unless you have some kind of temp control. And San Francisco? It could be brutally cold in...

Controlled fermentation temps. How are you doing it?

Thank you. Being in the Bay Area we are so multi-climate that it is so difficult to keep a constant temperature without a controlled environment and the conicals with temperature controlled jackets are just far to expensive to justify. Plus we can store carboys in there too and still have room...

Controlled fermentation temps. How are you doing it?

My girlfriend and I are putting the finishing touches on our "fermentation room" in which we will be storing our two 14 gallon conicals, and two 6.5 gallon Big Mouth Bubblers. Room for at least two more conicals!

    Red Wheat Malt

Have you been to Brewmasters in San Leandro? They carry it. Haven't used it yet. I am looking for feedback on Hef recipes.

    Water Pump Questions

Hello all! So, here in California as many of you know, we are going through a terrible drought. I was considering buying a big drum to circulate the water to the wort chiller and then back to the drum. Some questions... First of all, does anyone have any suggestions on which pump would be...

    dry hopping in conical fermenter

Hopefully I can bring this forum back from the dead as well! lol At any rate, I too just bought a new conical and was wondering when to dump the trub/yeasty goodness so I could dry hop. Fermentation started within about a eight hours and then incredibly active fermentation where it would...

    Overly Excited Fermentation Question

brettg20 Could you please explain to me why a refractometer would not be best to use for FG? Remember I is a noob here :) I decided to buy the refractometer because it is much easier for me to do readings than with a hydrometer.

    Overly Excited Fermentation Question

Thank you uatuba for your quick response! I agree that it is a lot of pressure from something, which is what brought up my concern! I finally bought a refractometer so I would be using that in place of the hydrometer. Basically, do a reading now and then again in a few days and if it hasn't...

    Overly Excited Fermentation Question

Hello! We are now approaching three and a half weeks with our Imperial IPA that had some pretty quick fermentation that resulted into me having to implement a blow off (see post: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/airlock-overflow-question-456484/.) Now the question is, it has been active...
