    Sunday Morning Setlist

I will be going to this show. I've missed every other chance to catch Slayer on their farewell tour, not gonna miss this one. And seeing Phil do a Pantera set will probably be the closest I ever get to seeing Pantera. I'm there.

Who's NOT making IPAs and what are you brewing?

Just making sure it dries out enough. <1.010. No specialty malts, other than maybe some flaked corn in an American lager or a little melanoidin to simulate a decoction in my helles. Also, I've been using a touch of crystal hops in the last 15 minutes of the boil, seems to help with the...

Who's NOT making IPAs and what are you brewing?

I'd estimate about 25% of what I brew are IPAs - NE, west coast, whatever. I have 4 taps and one is always an IPA. Other than that, i brew all types of ales, lagers and sours. My focus as of late has been brett/mixed ferment beers and clean, crisp lagers. Currently fermenting is a Munich helles...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a kettle soured blackberry milkshake IPA this weekend. It's going to a local event/competition where off the wall beers tend to do better. Last years winner was a NEIPA with glitter, named "Unicorn Piss". Will be brewing NEIPA this coming weekend with Columbus, Strata and Denali.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I did this recently, actually. Pils with a touch of white wheat and munich, Voss kveik, and all Loral hops - bittering, 15 minutes and 5 minutes. Very nice, drinkable beer, but not quite as kolsch like as I would've liked. I would probably change the bittering hop to something like Horizon. Dont...

Help with First Wild Barrel Fruit Beer

Fruit flavor fades over time. If you want more of it present, I'd do the bulk of aging before adding fruit, then let it sit on fruit for a month, then package.

Roofer took over my side yard

His appearance is also loosely based on Black Sabbath's bass player, Geezer Butler.

Roofer took over my side yard

I take it you've never seen Dethklok Metalocalypse? That's Murderface, the bass player of the the most popular band, and 7th largest economy in the world, Dethklok.

Amazing thread. Subbed. No further comments, I'm content to eat popcorn.

    Oxiclean backflow into keezer

Ok, so this is a weird one. Cleaning some kegs today with my normal process. I have a regulator with two outputs. One goes to a 4 way gas manifold in my keezer,, and the other stays out to use for pressurizing kegs mostly while cleaning. Had a keg 100% full of oxi - no air space at all. Attached...

What is your ratio of keepers vs dumpers?

In just over 6 years and 175ish brews, I've had a few dumpers. I was probably 30 brews in before I had one that had some off flavors I couldn't stomach. Dumped one due to horrible recipe design, and a pilsner about a year ago that also had a bad off flavor. But, I know exactly where I went wrong...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed 10 gallons of MTF reverse sour. 5 gallons will get apricot, 2.5 will get blackberries, and still undecided on the last 2.5 gallons. Narrowed down to gooseberry, sour cherries, and hibiscus with dry hops.

Wanting to try something new. Kveik anyone?

I thought about that, but I doubt it would stay warm long enough to finish the job, requiring multiple turns.

Wanting to try something new. Kveik anyone?

I would love to know how that works out. I really want to dry some myself, but ovens lowest temperature is 180F, and I'm kinda paranoid about open air drying. I'll try it eventually.

Wanting to try something new. Kveik anyone?

I would just make a starter, then store it in a sanitized Mason jar. Use what you need. That jar would probably be enough for several beers.

    Dry Hopping Advice

Never, ever shake and splash a beer that has begun fermenting - I hate to say it, but you've likely wildly oxidized that beer. The hops will soak in fine on their own.

    Dry Hopping Advice

I've never used whole hops, so I can't comment much in them, other than they will absorb more beer than pellets. If you do use whole or leaf hops, you may want to account for that volume loss. Dry hop loose. Hop bags limit or restrict flavor extraction. If you have the ability to cold crash, do...

How much hops and grain do you have on hand?

I have 10 5 gallon buckets with gamma lids to store 50 lb bags of 2 row, maris otter, pilsner, Munich and Vienna malts. Each bucket holds about half a bag. I typically buy enough specialty malt for my next 5 or 6 batches and have it shipped to cut on shipping costs. I keep a 12 strain frozen...
