Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

Hello my fellow brewers. I'm back. :mug: I have finally cleared a corner of the basement. What do you guys think I should do here? :D

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

Same here. I just throw in the immersion chiller at about the 10 minute mark and let it boil. It slows the boil down for a moment but kicks back in quickly once the copper heats up.

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

Wow! That lager method sounds legit and makes sense. I will indeed try it. Thanks SBD! :mug: I am hoping to get a 2.5g keg setup and another mini fridge before it finishes. Might even try filtering to the keg if budget allows.

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

I didn't know there was quick lager technique? I am guessing this is going to be more of a Junebock. :p

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

Gearing up for brewing a Maibock. My LHBS was out of the Wyeast 2124 Bohemian Lager til Wednesday. Will pick up the yeast next Wednesday and make the starter then. I think I will stay with the technique of making the starter in a saucepan on the stove and transfer it to the flask. Can't wait...

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

Ha...funny you should mention the starter thing. I just got a stir plate from Stir-starters and a 2L Erlenmeyer. I thought the same thing...make the starter in the flask. Didn't really think of using my induction plate however. A pic of course. :D

    Request for Induction Equipment Information

Is it like a loose wire touching the fan or something else? I know you have watched, waited and researched your choice for induction. Man that stinks. Drinking a cold one for you tonight!

Awesome! Sounds like you have "something" on the way? :mug: :ban: :tank:

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

I have not experienced any scorching of the bag when applying heat to the mash. I am, however, usually stirring when I do apply heat to distribute the heat. Keep in mind my system is 1800 watts. Perhaps on the 3500 watt units this is more of a concern?

Anyone else hate the term "Brew in a Bag"

BIABag - I always thought it meant, Behold...I Am Brewing All Grain! :D

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

The temp control on the Vollrath Mirage I have is pretty good. I goofed around with temp control at 170F for a mash out and held it there for 15 minutes or so. It would go down to about 167 and then up to 173 during this time with some stirring. I think the temp control would be even better...

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

I don't think a keggle will work. The kettle you chose for induction needs to have a flat bottom to make proximity contact with the magnetic coils below the surface of the cooktop.

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

Induction cooktops seem to have a mystique regarding their operation. For me that is part of the appeal. An exotic technology for brewing. :mug: Magnetic or non magnetic kettles may well have an impact on the efficiency? Obviously some of the non-magnetic kettles work. Perhaps we can gather...

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

I didn't realize the Chugger with the poly head was only $110 + shipping. Dang. Not a bad price! I think the SWMBO might approve that?

Induction Brewing - 2.5g with Recirculation

Carl - Thank you for the props on the thread! I am still considering the recirc setup. The next step is to decide on a pump if I am going to do this. I like the Chugger with the stainless head. What do you guys think? Since I have a smaller system...what about those cheap greatbreweh pumps? Or...
