    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

10 batches in and mine has stayed in place as well. That said, if it comes out it's not going back in. As mentioned, for brewing beer it's really not necessary on this system.

So with a new mill in the house I figured a second run of my Bad Neighbors White Ale was in order as it was my lowest mash efficiency by far to date on the AF. The neighbors also destroyed the keg in less than 3 nights so there's that. It originally ran at 69% with the LHBS doing a double mill...

It's a two roller from NB called the Hullwrecker. Affordable, good reviews, so far so good. 🤞

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Ran my oatmeal coffee stout today, very happy once again. Broke in the new Hullwrecker grain mill. Set it at 0.030" and it chewed through the grains pretty well. Definitely produced a more powdery crush than I was getting from a double mill at the LHBS. Managed 75.6% mash efficiency with 3lbs...

I'm so happy with 120v on the 10.5 that installing the bigger outlet isn't even on the radar right now. The hops just need 212, and it'll do that all day on 120.

I've used the "Exbeerimental" label before, definitely helps set expectations. I also like to say "Hey, would you like to try some of my shitty home brew?" That really gets the gears turning. I've said it before, I'm not torn up about efficiency as much as consistency. But with several batches...

The hazy IPA went really well today. Total grain bill was 15.25lbs which included a pound of rice hulls. No issues at all, did a one gallon sparge at the end and nailed my gravity and volume targets. So weird boiling for an hour and adding nothing but yeast nutrient. Should finish out just over...

Keep us posted, I'll be curious to see how your efficiency comes out.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Brewed a Belgian Pale Ale today, session went pretty much text book with mash efficiency of 78% which is more what I'd like to see. I do have a mill on the way so wheat will no longer kick my ass. Doing a big, hazy IPA on Friday with wheat and oats in the grist. Planning for 72% mash...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Missed this response MBG, sorry about that. I have no issues accounting for the lower efficiency, except that another pound or two of grains puts me that much closer to this things max capacity. I've only got about 3-4 recipes where this would be an issue and although I don't want to add extra...

Whirlfloc tablet at 15 minutes to go and never look back. Except through your crystal clear beer.

I will say though, almost all can be forgiven when I get to sit for an hour drinking a beer while this thing cleans itself. Quick work with the hose and done, can't be mad about that.

Not really, once it's small it won't get any smaller. Knowing the mill at my LHBS I'd bet it's half my issue from today.

Bought one 12 years ago, loved it! Unfortunately it's in MN with my former brew partner. :smh:

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

So here's where I start to get frustrated. I'm brewing a white ale today with 47.5% of the grain bill being white wheat and a total of 11lbs of grains. I did this exactly the same as the Saison I did a couple weeks ago that finished with 82% mash efficiency, one exception being the addition of...

If the math works I'm not worried about pretty. Don't have Excel and no interest in an open source platform either. Yesterday I tried just opening it directly into Sheets and it didn't work. It took downloading it locally, then uploading into my drive to get it going. Seems to work fine, playing...

No doubt, I was just lazy yesterday. I downloaded it, then uploaded it into Google Sheets and that got it working. Pretty slick, thanks for sharing!

Great info from both of you so thanks for chiming in! And thanks Doug for doing the math, I tried the link posted above but couldn't get it to work. It all makes sense, I've just never personally seen a spread that big. Starting to think these all in ones aren't as "simple" as I'd originally...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

The previous grain bill was 9.5lbs, so considerably less but I wouldn't expect that to equate to a 9% spread between the two batches. My efficiency on my previous keggle system would vary maybe 2-3% from the smallest to heaviest grain bill. I've said it before, if I can stay in the mid 70's I'll...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

So anyone see a correlation between bigger grain bills and lower mash efficiency? After a couple really good runs I decided to do my big DIPA last weekend. It's a 15.25lbs grain bill, I pulled 1.5 gallons for a sparge but the mash was still plenty fluid. Followed the same routine that netted me...
