Crystal/Carahell. Unable to get the proper ingredients

Yeah, I'm thinking of going back to basics. I did see that they have Bairds Caramel light and I think thats close to C-35 and then they have caramel pilnser malt from Bestmalz so I'm assuming that means carapils. But damn, after reading about carahell I wanna try it now haha. But for this...

Crystal/Carahell. Unable to get the proper ingredients

So, I'm making an old recipe but I don't have access to the ingredients I used to. (I'm overseas) It's an IPA and the grainn bill was 43.5% 2-Row 43.5% M.O. 6.5% C-35 4.3% Cara-pils we don't have c-35 or Carapils/Dexterine here so I'm thinking of using 4.2% Carahell 4.2% Munich I know...

    Head for a hazy IPA

So I get that it can yield head, and I agree that it should. My question is why so many places don't do that only for this style

    Head for a hazy IPA

Yeah that looks right to me. A little more would be perfect to me but that's much better than what I see them pouring and I can't figure out why

    Head for a hazy IPA

I feel the same, I need the foam! He mentioned that about the bitterness also but does the amount of head factor in to that? I can pour a low carbed beer to have lots of head. Also, so many German and Belgium styles use a lot of head but aren't bitter, so I'm guessing there's another reason...

    Head for a hazy IPA

Poured with minimal head. He said the same thing about the jucyness but would head detract from that? I would think that head would release more aromatics and enhance it, but I don't know much about this area. And yeah, they undercarb to help the juicy feel, that also makes me wonder why more...

    Head for a hazy IPA

That's what I thought also, then he started sending me pics of beers from the too makers and they all had minimal head, and he said that a few brewers said that's on purpose.

    Head for a hazy IPA

My friend pointed out to me that lots of places that make hazy IPAs put very little head on their beers. Is there a reason for this? I thought head helps release aromatics, wouldn't you want a regular sized one on a beer as aromatic as a hazy IPA?

    Doritos Flavored Beer

A few thoughts about replies I have seen (paraphrased)... "ugh, that sounds like a gross beer" -Maybe, but most beers that are a style you don't like are gross to you. I'd sooner try a Doritos beer than I would a dunkel. Plus, probably every new thing was thought of as gross before it was tried...

Craft Trying to Buy-Out AB-Inbev - Crowdfunding Campaign

I think they are. Ive heard some people talking about how they think it's a waste of time and money. But I don't get that, are they against advertising? Cause that's all this was. And I doubt it was expensive at all. It is a cheap, easy, and humorous way to get their name out. And it must be...

Craft Trying to Buy-Out AB-Inbev - Crowdfunding Campaign

My post was in response to someone that said the BA just needs to educate the consumer, but Orval does have a label like the BA is doing. :) http://www.trappist.be/en/pages/logo-atp I think they are doing what lots of beer and wine and cheese places do. They are trying to make sure that the...

where to get 10L (appx 2.5g) kegs (or even 5L 1.3g)

Thanks, I was hoping to find one a bit cheaper. My experiences with them before were overseas so I got the alibaba price without doubling it with shipping. But maybe that's not a possibility here. Thanks, I'll keep an eye out on eBay!

Craft Trying to Buy-Out AB-Inbev - Crowdfunding Campaign

True, in order to do that they need to get people to listen though, I think they've been trying to educate people for years. What they should do to help educate people is to make some sort of video since people watch those more than they read, and they should try to make the video humorous or...

where to get 10L (appx 2.5g) kegs (or even 5L 1.3g)

Does anyone know where to get 10 liter (about 2.5 gallon) kegs like this? .. http://www.ndlkeg.com/custom-kegs/10-liter-keg.html The ones with the top part that is like a cone, not just a standard 2.5 gallon keg. Or even a 5L one might work, all I can find are ones that are 128 ounces...

"Standard" Beers Every Brewery Should Have

Yeah, we got our fair share of IPAs up here as well, I just wasn't sure if you were saying to do none or just not to go overboard with them
