    Help me brew a Hefe!

Did my first gravity check for this one, 6 days in to fermentation. 1.012. as it stands now that puts it at 5%. Wonder if a few more days may give me a gravity point or 2 more...

    Help me brew a Hefe!

Oh, about 18 hours in my blow-off tube was full of foam. Did you get a sulfur smell with the Munich Classic?

    Help me brew a Hefe!

They weren't lying when they said Wyeast 3068 smells like sulfur during fermentation. I didn't under pitch like some say to do with this yeast. If anything, I over pitched by using the entire liquid pack (no starter) for a 3 gallon batch.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Hefe is going crazy. Wyeast 3068 is a BEAST.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a Hefeweizen today. Did a step mash and the OG came out to 1.050, just shy of my target 1.052. 60/40 wheat/pilsner. 11 IBUs of Tettnang. Wyeast 3068 currently in the chamber at 67°F.

Water Chemistry - Explain it like I'm 5

Screw it, I'll just keep using bottled water. What is better, spring or purified?

Water Chemistry - Explain it like I'm 5

My goal was to start from distilled water and go from there. I thought that was the easiest route?

Water Chemistry - Explain it like I'm 5

The final frontier for me is water chemistry and closed keg transfers. I plan on conquering both of these things on my next batch, which will be brewing this Saturday. Water chemistry has always been intimidating for me, so I usually just use tap water with campden tablets or bottles of spring...

    Best temp to keg carb?

This is what I do. I also vent the pressure out before dropping to serving pressure. Is that necessary?

Good question. I'm not sure, but I think I will shoot for 67F. Thoughts?

    Help me brew a Hefe!

All great advice, thanks? Should I go with white wheat or red? Two different kinds?

    Help me brew a Hefe!

Let me start off by saying that I do not want to cut corners here. Time, ingredients, processes, whatever helps me make the best authentic German Hefeweizen is what I'm interested in. Also, fwiw, I brew on the Anvil Foundry 6.5. I typically ferment in a Fermonster in my temperature controlled...

New post a picture of your pint

In a side by side over the weekend, my wife said she preferred my Oatmeal Stout over Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. :)

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

It is a temporary solution until we make room elsewhere. I'm sure she won't allow it to stay too much longer, but I appreciate her patience lol

You know you're a home brewer when?

You have a hydrometer in your sink every other day.

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

My wife would appreciate it if I moved this out of the dining room 😋
