California Fast Ferment Conical Fermenter w/ Rolling Stand + Accessories

Selling a 7.9 gal Fast Ferment conical fermenter (basically new, only brewed 2-3 batches in it). Comes with all the accessories that came with it. I'm also selling a cart that I built for it (can be disassembled for easier storage). Really nice because you can wheel the fermenter around instead...

Coffee IPA help, add coffee to secondary

Good point, I didn’t think about it mellowing out in the beer. Thanks for the tip! I didn’t plan on adding it to the boil just because I felt like I would be less in control of the final product, but good points. I didn’t really know the purpose of the “cold brew” method. Just following a...

Coffee IPA help, add coffee to secondary

I’m making a coffee ipa right now, and the recipe I’m using says to add the coffee cold brewed into the secondary. My question is do any of you see the real need for it to be added to the secondary? Or can I just add it at bottling time? I want to try several different styles of coffee, but...

    Kegging & Misc Question

My two cents on the taps... when I built my kegerator I upgraded immediately to the SS perlicks, even though the tower I purchased came with the cheaper taps similar to what you showed. About a year later, a buddy was building a kegerator so I gave him the ones I didn’t end up using. They...

Brewing small AG experimental batches in 5 gallon setup

I've been contemplating doing some experimental batches. At the moment I'm planning on experimenting with some coffee IPAs but I am curious about scaling down batches in general. Currently I have an all grain setup (water cooler style) for 5 gallon batches. When doing experimental batches, say...

    2000W heating element with a 15a plug

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I think I may have been a little unclear, so let me explain my situation a little better. The breaker is rated for 20A and the GFCI outlet itself is also rated for 20A (allowing for a 20A horizontal plug). I'm assuming the wire running between the two is...

    2000W heating element with a 15a plug

I recently decided to upgrade the heating element in my heat stick to 2000w. At 120V, that puts me at 16.7A. However, I'm now realizing that the wire plug that I was using is rated for 15A. I also have a portable GFCI plug that I use in addition to the GFCI outlet (doubling down on the safety...

    Kegged brew not staying fresh

I recently brewed a pale ale (this one actually, ~5% ABV), which I then kegged and force carbed. At first, it tasted pretty good (I've made better but I was satisfied with it nonetheless). That was about 5 months ago (I'm surprised I still have as much left as I do but I've been drinking a lot...

    Help on conical fermenter

I too am in the exact same boat, as I am trying to figure out which conical I want to get. I've narrowed it down to the SS BrewTech and the FastFerment as my best options. Something to think of. Sure the FastFerment is made of plastic which can degrade or scratch if scrubbed too hard. But at a...

    CO2 issues when kegging

I'll swapping out the lines for longer ones. Using mikes calculator, I'm getting about 11'. Gonna get 12' just in case. Is there a problem with getting 15'? I just don't want to get too short of a line.

    CO2 issues when kegging

I am aware of this, but I do not think this is the issue as I've used the same pint glasses for other beers and have not had the same problems. I do not wash my homebrew equipment with dish soap for this reason. PBW all the way. My kegerator was initially at around 42F, but I've since bumped...

    CO2 issues when kegging

I kegged for the first time and I'm not super satisfied with the results. The brew tastes flat. I tried turning up the CO2 a notch, but all that did was make it crazy foamy at first when it comes out of the tap. I had it at a point where it seemed carbonated initially, but after a couple minutes...

    Keg sanitizing/filling process questions

So would you suggest hooking my CO2 tank to my blowoff outlet and push the beer out through the spigot? Since gravity pushes the beer through the spigot, seems like I'd need to find the ideal pressure of CO2 so that I'm not pushing the beer out with too much turbulence while also providing...

    Keg sanitizing/filling process questions

I have one of those big mouth bubblers from Northern Brewer with a spigot on the bottom, so I don't need to push the beer out of the carboy. Although air does come in through the blowoff tube. I suppose I could put a filter at the end of the tube.

    Keg sanitizing/filling process questions

I'm making the move to kegging over bottling and I'm looking at the different processes for sanitizing/cleaning. As for sanitizing the keg and transferring from the fermenter, I'm finding two different methods. The first method being to simply fill the keg with sanitizing solution, drain...
