Not the end of the world. I do not have software infront of me but the dme will help..but by how much, im not sure. Hopefully u or some one can checkthe gravity from the dme using software. U may also want to consider doiling a longer boil to reduce your total volume but will increase your OG...

    Lager Fridge Question

Thanks for the great replies....love this site. I actually noticed that i had individual temp settings for the fridge and freezer and both go from coldest to cold to Off....so i turned the fridge part to 95% off and have been holding steady at 52 degerees for almost 24 hrs. I just increased...

    Lager Fridge Question

I have been reading about temperature controllers but have not found an answer to this question..... Preface: i have good fridge in my basement and it has a freezer on top that we use and need. I understand that most fridges when hooked up to a temp controller will make the Freezer thaw. Not...

    skunky beer

Hopefully it turned out ok. Skunkiness varies along with one's preference or distain of it. I actually deliberatly skunked bottled beer by exposing it to summer sunlight for relatively short periods of time in transparent glass bottles. I was aiming for a heiny corona thing with a...

    American Lager Canadian Pils

If I needed to do something different, I'd cut down on the carafoam/carapils and adjust the temp to get a bit more fermetability in order to get it more dry. Otherwise, I was quite good. Cheers.

    DIY: 15 Minute Grain Mill

I was able to get a finer crush on my permanent set-up...same building method - just spent more time setting everything. It actually turned out where one end of the roller was ever so slightly closer to the other....I pour the grains onto the rollers with a empty pitcher....i thought the the...

    First Cider for me.

I am fermenting this @ about 70F, using Montrachet yeast. Any idea while this almost foamed over? Is this from the peptic enzyme working on the crud? I am using a blow off tube now. Cheers.

    First Cider for me.

I drove by a country place thgat sells cider. (Bennetts near Hamilton) I actually used to go to this place when my grandfather used to sell his left over apples for press. (over 30 years ago) So I thought it would be a good time to try a cider "brew". 19L of no-preservative, pasturized...

Can I save my stout before bottling?

If you add Fermentable sugar, it will ferment into alcohol, and not add any sweetness. Lactose is an unfermtable, and as rdjw says, will add to the sweetness. Also, if adding a fermentable, it can result in bottle bombs if bottled too soon. You can post the recipe/techniques/temps, and we may...

Homebrew made from woman's v****a yeast, seriously

Ok, here they are.... 1) at least the bung will be close to the yeast so it can't get misplaced...although it will still be difficult to find the airlock cap. 2) you can brag about a "yeast starter" that lasts for several days. 3) does she sit on a stirplate? 4) is it an ale or a lager...

New Cooler Mash Tun - Braid or Manifold?

Here it is.... Images show that the manifold can be taken apart for cleaning. Please ignore the messy solidering job - hey, it works. The middle part runs down the drain channel to the opening. It took a while to get this right. I made the spacing of the tubes according...

New Cooler Mash Tun - Braid or Manifold?

I have the 52 qrt. as a mash-tun and it works quite well. I am getting high 70's -low 80's effiecincy fly sparging - but have been playing with serveral variables this year. Let me know if you want a pic on how I made the manifold fit into the drain groove. Cheers.

Seems like ALOT of water lost during boil

Same thing with me...I lost well over 15% for my first few boils...and then lost more due to the trub......after 6 AGs, I have finally figured out all my equipment. Ease off on the full gas when you start to boil, and you should be fine. Cheers.
