eBIAB vs Cooler Mash Tun Setup

So without wanting to drill another hole in the kettle, should I just add a T fitting with thermowell just after the ball valve? And recirculate when heating strike water AND recirculate mash? I just received my BrewHardware False Bottom and Wilserbag from you... Thanks

eBIAB vs Cooler Mash Tun Setup

So after some more reading, I can do full volume BIAB mashes in my 10 gallon kettle up to about 10% ABV... For anything more than that, I can always use my 10 gallon cooler mash tun and transfer wort back to the boil kettle and do a 10 minute batch sparge to get to pre boil volume. After...

eBIAB vs Cooler Mash Tun Setup

Well, I guess the answer to my question is gonna be to mash in my eKettle while recirculating the mash for temp control and then figure out my sparging..... Prolly just use my cooler as an HLT to hold sparge water and then batch sparge to get to my full volume....

eBIAB vs Cooler Mash Tun Setup

So is a full volume mash vs a batch sparge or pour over sparge better? When I mash in my cooler MT with a bag, I always just pull the bag out and set it on a strainer that fits over my cooler and pour 170 degree water over it to rinse it.... Now I'm reading that I don't even have to use 170...

eBIAB vs Cooler Mash Tun Setup

So I went ahead and bought the false bottom and wilserbag from Brew Hardware.... I'm leaning toward brew in a bag... My temp probe is is in the middle of the pot, I need to either a) move it lower b) get a shorter probe c) put the temp probe in a T fitting exiting the ball valve. Any...

eBIAB vs Cooler Mash Tun Setup

So I recently picked up a 10 gallon electric fired brew kettle with controller. I was originally thinking I just wanted to go electric for the ease of operation and precise control. But now that I added the eKettle to my setup, and I have learned a lot more, I am kind of torn on what I want to...

    Element Firing Light

That is good to know... I have a few of those on my current controller, so I think I'll use that... I'll go with the PID Controller LED Selector switches for: Main Power Element Power 2 Separate Pumps And a small light for the "Element Firing" indicator.

    Element Firing Light

So when you're mashing or boiling, when your small green light is flickering off and on, is,the red one doing the same? I'm assuming your red one is wired in parallel with the output to the element, correct?

    Element Firing Light

Can anyone show a video or a pic of an element firing lamp on their brew controller? I understand the importance of having a separate firing lamp, but I am trying to build a compact controller and space is at a premium, so I would like to see a functioning "element firing light" if it's...

    Rebuilding Electric Brew Controller Questions

Doug, for the contactors for the "main power on" switch and the "element" switch, should those contactors be 240v contactors? I think the diagram shows 120v 30 amp.... I'm just learning about all this wiring up, so just thought I'd ask. EDIT: Ok, I think I answered my own question... the...

    Rebuilding Electric Brew Controller Questions

Cool... And the Main Power On switch doesn't have to be a key switch, right? Is there any benefit to using a key switch vs an LED selector switch? Also, I was considering an E stop... Any pros or cons to having one? Thank you so much for your help and advice!

    Rebuilding Electric Brew Controller Questions

Wanting to do something similar to the Wort Hog but using LED selector switches. I am trying to use as much of the items I currently have, but I realize I'm gonna have to buy a few things. I already bought the new box. It's an 8x8x6 plastic enclosure.

    Rebuilding Electric Brew Controller Questions

I am redoing my single element brew controller. I have one 5500w 240v element. I want to use a single PID controller (Most likely Auber EzBoil) and I want to have 2 120v outlets controlled by switch. My thoughts are to have one selector switch to power on the whole box. Another selector...

Control Panel Selector Switches and Indicator Light Supply

Since I'm probably gonna replace the Mypin TD4 PID with an Auber EZBoil, I looked at Auber's SSR and it is made in China, too... Are they a different quality? Or just different labels?
