OK thanks. Was going by a simple set of instructions given to me by the brewing shop for basic bottling. This is my 2nd brew. My first was a porter that was awesome. After bottling I drank the cup or so I used to check the final gravity reading and it tasted like a great, but flat imperial stout.

Thanks Chikn. Keizer I took a closer look at your pic there. We used to use something similar for the cooler while canoeing. Sooner or later the tipping over starts and if you don't have the canoe in the cooler it's all good.

Thanks Eric she's a keeper for sure. Believe me I kept looking at that 16 gallon kettle thinking I'm sure I'd grow into it. However, that sucker is huge and wouldn't fit on the stove top in the kitchen. Oh and I did order the wort chiller.

Okay finished at 1.012 about a week later. Bottled 10 days ago and chilled a single bottle today to try it. Turned out good still not enough carbonation. I'll give it another 5 days. Oh I also upgraded from a brewing bucket to a Fermonster. Thanks everyone for your help.

OK spoke with the guy at the brew shop yesterday, and he said that SG is right about where it should be at. He said that the beginning SG should have been right around 1.055 and when I checked a few days ago it was at 1.020. So I have not opened it again and won't for at least another week.
