    How long does beer take to carbonate?

    I do it that way, and I've never had a problem, it's such miniscule amounts of sanitizer we're talking about so I don't think there are any measurable difference.

    It's not that big of a problem, and agitating the fermentor doesn’t seem worth the tisk of oxygenating the fermemted beer vs the small reward.

    This was Nottingham, the ones before MJ m42 and s04, so all of them pretty flocculant strains, I brew mostly brittish style ales.

    I usually get pretty livid fermentations, so that seems right. I guess I'll just have to live with it it then, I transfer to bottling bucket through a spigot in the bottom, and always leave a little beer on the yeast cake so most of it should stay behind

    I have beer that has been sitting for two weeks, and they are not fully carbonated yet. Forget the two weeks you see in kit instructions etc, it often takes a month to get full carbonation, even pressure and non "green" tasting beer.

    You have multiple? I am recognized in mine by now, "oh yeah, you bought this and that yeast a couple weeks ago, how did the brew turn out?"

    Check your boil off rate aswell, I had a lot of issues with low gravities in my first batches, because my boil off was way lower than I thought it was.

    That actually sounds like a good idea, I'll try it if the problem remains. It looked like the plastic "beards" around the holes from drilling the plastic had softened up and folded themselves back over the holes, so I stuck a wood plant stick thorough them and scraped of the plastic bearding.

    It was my only pack of that strain, but now I know atleast to not cold crash starters too cold... hopefully this beer turns out somewhat as I wanted it anyway.

    I got mad and dumped... my mash temp when I put on the lid was a little over 68, so 68-69 mash temp and a fair amount of crystal in the grist should hopefully keep the attenuation from rising too much over 70%. Note to self: don't dial effect of fridge to max when cold crashing starters...
