    Better Bottle Blues

$15 is silly. I payed $22 for the BB and $1.79 for the stopper.

    Better Bottle Blues

Suckback is really the only legitimate complaint with BB and it's so trivial. Just remove the airlock when moving, no big whoop.

    Propane burner benefits

Yeah that's struggling. I mash and sparge on an electric stove and it takes less than 30minutes for 2-3 gallons to reach 185F. I think because I have a pot with a sandwhiched bottom (ss/aluminum/copper) that it works really well.

    Propane burner benefits

The Grape and Granary sells this one which looks exactly like mine and they rate it "up to 150,00BTUs" (fwiw)

    keggle vs brewpot

I've had a cut keggle in my backyard for over 2years now. I've never used it, I really like my 10gallon pot so I probably never will...My pot is really wide and low and it fits nicely underneath stuff whereas the keggle is HUGE.

    Exploding Growlers

how about a giant cap on a carboy? If you want to use big bottles use ones that can hold carbonation like those giant Champagne bottles. I've got 6, 1litre sparkling lemonade bottles with swing-tops that I use and they are as big as I want to bottle in. What's cool about those is they replace...

They all LIE! or, thermometers are EVIL! (rant)

I've been using floating dairy thermos for mashing but I broke mine the last batch so I got a cheap digital from Target. I haven't used it yet but it looks decent. Taylor TruTemp Digital Cooking Thermometer with Alarm and Timer : Target

    help solving my infection issue

sounds like you got infectionitis. I had this after 2 or 3 beers went bad. It seemed like every batch smelled bad for a while even though they weren't...The mind is a terrible thing.

    Starsan or Iodophor

I use both. StarSan on everything except airlock and stopper because Starsan is some slippery stuff.

    Auto-Siphon Pros and Cons

cons: $12 I've broken 3 or 4, but if you just run hot water on the point where the hose connects to the cane they seperate easily. I would like an all glass one though, that would be sweet.

    help solving my infection issue

I can't believe people don't disassemble the ball valve and clean and sanitize it every batch. This goes againts the first rule of homebrewing: sanitize everything the wort comes in contact with. When I first started homebrewing I was told to not use a kettle with a spigot for the reason that...

    Better bottle blowoff tube?

$5: Product Listing - Or make one yourself with a #10 stopper an 1/2" hose. Drilling the hole could be tricky. $5, though, $5.

    Whats this Setup Worth ?

"make me an offer" sounds kind of sketchy. I'd low ball him with $500. If he wants $1700, lol

    better bottles

    #10...they're HUGE.

    Settling a non-flocculant starter IDEA

My feeling is that cold crashing artificially selects the 'dusty' yeast so I don't do it. The most flocculent yeast are the ones that drop out straight away so leave the dusty ones behind. I think it's cool you have a turntable though.

    The Exploding Carboy Club...

I think its more about people getting thier airlocks clogged. These things aren't made to hold pressure so pressure+glass=explosion.

    racking cane sterilization

I sanitize mine in the carboy that's filled with star san. 2 birds one stone...Just flip it once to get it fully treated. with a better bottle you can sanitize the bottle, the cane, the auto siphon, and hose at the same time.

    Immersion Chiller Leaks?

I've had problems with the cheap hose that came with mine, namely it melts as it rests againts the pot while submerged during boiling, it doesn't melt enough to leak but it gets flattened out from being so soft and causes too much pressure. Replace the crappy hoses with high-temp hose used for...
