    when will they be ready?!

    I was wondering if anyone had any input on when to harvest the cones. What should I be looking for to know they are mature and ready to be picked? I am sure that they have some more time left on them but I am curious. Thanks for all the info.

    droopy plant

    I water depending on the heat and other factors but it did rain a lot last night. I thought is could be too much water just was not sure since the other plants were still looking fine.

    We have sprouts!

    cool! all but one of my rhizomes has sprouted... 2 cascades, 1 nugget, and 1 willamette.Still waiting on the centennial to pop out. I need o get a camera then figure out how to post pictures on here:). Happy Growing!

    Now there are two cascades out and a willimette! My nugget and centennial have not sprouted yet but they had no sprouts when they were put in the ground. sure they are fine just need to give them some time:)

    Woke up this morning and went out to check the garden and I was happy to find my first rhizome has sprouted. It is a Cascade. I put up a small fence to help keep animals out. Hope to see some more growth soon.:)

    I am a first time hop grower this year, jus got my rhizomes in the ground today... I planted 2 cascade, 1 centennial, 1 nugget, and 1 willamette. The willamette and the cascade already had chutes gowing when I planted them. The nugget and centennial had no evidence of growth....is that okay...

    I plan on planting some veggies near my hops as well. I am a first year hop grower. I was also wondering about the animals eating my chutes.... I have a lot of rabbis in my neighborhood and was concerned about them. I just planted my rhizomes today and plan on wrapping a chicken wire fence...

    when is it too late?

    just got my rhizomes in the ground today! tilled up a spot in the back yard. Made a trellis out of 16 foot aluminum posts. should have good weather for starting them this weekend here in VA. cant wait to see them break ground!:)
