    Florida Florida Breweries

I've been to the Orlando Brewery, but it may be a bit out of the way depending on where you're going in Orlando. They have a tap room and do tours. Total Wine has 2 great locations in Orlando, with tons of beer (local and otherwise) and classes. Down by UCF there is World of Beer with I think...

    Guidance for Smoky Roggen/Marzen

In about a year my sister will be getting married and of course that means I get to brew the beer! I've got about a year to develope a recipe, and I'd like to do something with a little smoke to it since the groom's last name is Woods. I think it shouldn't be a heavy smoke and my most popular...

I'll keep this in mind as a far flung thing to do, but inventory management systems already exist (though I've never used one). The plan is to figure out what features I'll want to implement before I come out with version 1. Version 0 will be brewpi functionality, but some features--like...

Interesting, I actually did a patch to get brewpi-scripts to work in Python 3 (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brewpi-script/. I'm not a python programmer so I don't know that it fully works, but I know it hasn't had any errors in the process of programming an arduino, modifying settings, and...

So I decided to remake the great Brewpi project in C++. I'm currently calling it Brewpipp. I have a few reasons for doing this: Brewpi was written in Python 2 which is not compatible with Python 3 Brewpi is dropping support for Arduino in favor of the more expensive spark system Brewpi is...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I submitted the PKGBUILDS to the AUR. You can find them at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brewpi-www/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brewpi-script/ I tested that it can program an Arduino Uno from a Raspberry Pi B+ on Archlinux Arm. There may still be issues with the way python changed...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

For anyone who doesn't want to use a Debian distribution to run BrewPi, I'm working on making Arch Linux packages that I'll submit to the Arch User Repository once it is tested. I'm getting my new Arduino today so I should be submitting it to the AUR sometime next week. Sure I could use Raspbian...

    Quit hatin on dry yeast

Dry yeast also ships and stores better than liquid. I think dry got a bad rep because for so long it was very low quality and often contaminated. These days though it is very high quality and comes with way more cells than liquid yeast. I'm hoping White Labs or Wyeast will start providing dry...

Shower attachement to wash my suds in the tub

Well they do make sprayers to attach to your toilet's supply line for cleaning out diapers. They might have something like that for the shower as well.

    Brewing Hacks

It should be mostly linear. The only thing that would change it is the water expanding or contracting based on the temperature. So if you are measuring hot but not boiling wort it should be close enough to the volume it would be at boiling to figure it out.

You know you're a home brewer when?

That sounds like a good idea for single brewers looking to pick up brewer so.s: bathe with hops for a good half hour!

You know you're a home brewer when?

This would require a very strong magnet to go through the bucket and would be ineffective after thickening. I have thought of this as well. I use an extension cord to get my power cube outside the door of my fridge when making starters.

I Think I'd Make an Excellent Advice Columnist- Another Rant

Hasn't the poor guy been through enough? Better idea would be to house her in gasoline and light a match. See if she still wants to go to the wedding.

It's good for one if you want to see when it is finished clearing.

I would agree assuming he has decent temp control for fermenting. It's always hot and humid here in Florida.

You know you're a home brewer when?

When making home made ice cream you wish you had a pre chiller to cool down the mixture to 100f
