So I just had an interesting experience with a woman...

Actually, I brew a sweet mead that uses 20# of honey for a 5 gal batch. And 1/3 of the cost is glass. I buy my honey locally for wholesale of $1.85 a pound. I use good water. So I suppose it costs me less if you take out the glass cost, I recycle a lot and have just recently got some bottles...

So I just had an interesting experience with a woman...

Eh, People change. Many people are diffrent in HS or College than from when they get jobs and need to work hard for a living. Yesterday's Introvert, Today's Party Animal, Tomarrow's CEO of big corporation. Happens all the time. I am not saying that you buy into the crap, sometimes it is...

I can't believe I never thought of this before

I don't see a reason to calibrate it. Your readings are for taking the FG-OG right? So if your starting gravity will be off, the final gravity is off the same amount. The subtracted number is the same. 1.10-1.00=.10 as 1.35-1.25=.10 Still the same number. Calibrating Temp may be off...

I say Brew beer, when beer is done, Chill and have a party. Invite her and tell her to bring lots of women friends or cool people. Have fun, dont neccessiarly bone her but enjoy the company and the sharing of good beer. Man if I had been brewing in college then I would have been dynamite. A...

    homebrew give away or sell?

My example was meant for a situation that the person is ALWAYS coming over. Don't get me wrong. I offer to guests and take my brew to parties, occasionally give a bottle or two to a repairman fixing my house and the like. BUT in a situation that you have someone drinking 1/2 of your produce...

    homebrew give away or sell?

Let's put this in diffrent terms to put it in more perspective. You cook dinner for yourself every day. Everyday a friend comes over and has the meal with you. You end up cooking extra expecting it. So the question in these terms is: Can you or should you request that the friend pitch...

    Perfume, Beets, and Pan

That book rocked. Read it in Highschool on my own at the suggestion of my lang arts teach. For your recipie, I prob would go with a pumpkin or sweet potato recipie and swap out the pumpkin with beets. Ofcourse you may need to do a large batch of base and then divide it into various test...

Tips to speed up a brew day?

Simple solution: Brew mead. Much less mess but longer time. All you need to do is heat up the honey and water, not really to boiling but enough to melt the honey and then cool it down to blood temp and pitch yeast. The tough part is waiting the time until it ages properly, yes 6 months to a...

    Underground Aging

Instead of going very deep, why not just dig a pit and buy some cheap home insulation and wrap it, then burry it in a small hole. If it's good enough for houses it's good enough for your pit. Also to test it you can buy a cheap thermomiter with a long probe. Then you can take readings when it...

How do you guys do it?!?

I hardly ever drink. I make mead. Mead is like wine. It gets better as it ages. I only have about 10 5 gallon batches made but when I retire in a few decades I wont have to buy alcohol in my old age. Just go down to my cellar. I end up taking a six pack of 12 oz bottles to freinds parties...
