    Canadian Roll Call!!

Hi all, I thought many of my fellow canucks might enjoy these two links about beer taxes in Canada, and provincial taxes in Ontario. They help clear up some misinformation that is out there. Federal taxes: http://saintjohnswort.ca/fun-numbers-excise-tax-remittance-edition/ Ontario provincial...

Batch Sparge vs No Sparge acid additions

What? Like how large is the quantity required? For a yellow beer, I usually have to add 3ml. Tops.

I'm a propane brewer, but does anyone use a heat stick to cut down on pre-boil times? If Yes, do you find it is worth the investment?

1st LODO attempt: a brown ale. Brewed August 26, 2017. Probably one of the last full pints from the keg.

As long as you tip it and you dont hear or feel any bubble, then i think you're good. Any foaming of star san on the way out, like beer foaming out the facet when a keg kicks will be bubbles of CO2. Not air.

Zymurgy did an article recently on just this sort of thing. Here is a quick study they completed with water and o2 ingress when preparing and serving cask style. I chortled arrogantly at the statement "levels of oxygen in closed casks were only 4.6 mg/L" :p But Still, these results aren't...

I think it's strike water volume you multiply by 2 to get your grams of dry yeast and sugar. The original experiment wasn't done with a full volume mash. To quote @Bilsch on the other forum:

A few of the low oxygen brewing people have it and use it, but you cant buy it from retail. You need a specific permit to purchase, meaning its really for commercial use omly for some reason.

Like I mentioned, that was an old study. I did some searching and found the source of my 7ppb/day figure. It was a guy who worked for anhesuir-busch (sp), for one of their pilot brewing projects. He did an "ask me anything" on Reddit 4 years and 2 years ago. So yeah, obviously with new...

I forget the article, but this info was pulled from a study in the 70's, I think. Studying pvc liners on 12oz bottles. I think they were twist offs. A guy on a Reddit AMA claiming to be a brewing/food scientist that worked for a major brewery owned by AbImBev was quoted for the...
